Question about Voyetra Turtle Beach Ear Force X1 Headset

Can't hear people talk!!

Okay, so I recently bought my turtle beaches. I have everything plugged in right, volume up on the voice chat control thing or whatever, but I am still not hearing people talk! They can hear me fine, though, and the only time I CAN hear people is when my mic is unplugged. Help?!

You probably need a new talkback cable, You can purchase one on turtle beach's site or contact their support about sending one out to you.

I can't hear people talk, but they hear me.


Check your mic settings

Had a similar issues where I couldn't always hear xbox live chat conversation. Sometimes it would work, other times it wouldn't.. not 100% sure why though.

Tried different xbox, different controller and different Turtle beach head sets with similar issues

Setting the mic output to speakers allowed me to hear what people were saying at the expence of not being able to easily control the chat volume with the analog volume control on the chat head set cable.

Turtle Beach x1's make an annoying beeping noise


If you're using the Play n Charge kit, then you might be hearing some buzz/whine through the USB power. Use the X1 without the Play n Charge. Does that help?
If you unplug the chat-controller cable from the X1 volume control box, can you now hear shots and explosions without the annoying beeping/buzzing noise? If so, then you may have a bad chat-controller cable, and you should have it replaced.

If you have an X1 headset...
Try using the X1 headset and mic with your PC (sound card). Green plug goes to green jack, Pink plug goes to pink jack. Can you hear your voice thru the X1 mic on your PC? If yes, then the mic works but the chat-controller cable is probably broken and should be replaced. If no, then the mic may be broken and you should contact Turtle Beach's tech support for help -- [email protected]

My turtle beach problem is that i hear no sound at all i cant hear chatting or the game audio


With the X1 plugged in, look at the white volume control box (on the main cable about a foot down from the headset). Is the LED on that box lit up green or red? If yes, then it's got power. If not, then the headset is defective and you should contact Turtle Beach about it. [email protected]
If the light is lit, then you might want to try testing the X1 with an iPod or other portable music player that has a 1/8" (3.5mm) headphone jack.
- Plug the X1 USB plug into a USB port on a PC, Xbox or whatever. - Plug the X1 green plug into the headphone jack on your player. - Turn the volume up about 1/2 way on the player and on the X1. - Play a track on the player.
Do you hear sound? If so, your X1 is OK, but you may need to adjust settings on your Xbox. If not, then you have a problem with the X1 and you should contact Turtle Beach about getting it replaced or fixed. [email protected]

My turtle beach x1 stopped working


What happens if you try your X1 on a PC instead of on your Xbox? That's a good test of the mic... Here's how:
- Plug the X1 USB into a USB port on your PC. - Plug the X1 green plug into the green Line Out jack on your PC. - Plug the X1 pink plug into the pink Microphone jack on your PC.
Try recording the sound of your own voice on the PC, using Sound Recorder or whatever. Do you hear the sound of your voice? If so, your mic is working and the X1 chat/controller cable is probably broken. Replace the chat/controller cable.
If not, then the X1 mic is broken and you should contact Turtle Beach for service at [email protected]

Mic wont work, i can hear friends but they cant hear me.


Can you try using the X1 mic on your PC? Green plug to green jack, pink plug to pink jack, USB plug to USB port. Talk into the X1 mic. Can you hear your voice? If yes, then you probably have a bad chat-controller cable. If no, then your X1 mic may not be working. If that's the problem, you should contact Turtle Beach tech support for help. You probably need a new talkback cable. They are purchasable on the turtle beach website or contact their support about a replacement.

Mic broke


Try using your X1 with your computer. Plug the X1 green plug into the green jack on the PC. Plug the X1 pink plug into the pink jack on your PC. Try using the headset to listen to the sound of your voice. Can you hear your voice through the headset? If yes, then the mic is OK but the chat-controller cable needs to be replaced. Chat weird sound


Can you try your X1 on a PC? If the mic sounds weird on the PC as well as on XBL, then there's probably something wrong with the mic. But if the mic sounds good on your PC but not on XBL, then you probably need a new chat-controller cable, which should fix things right up.
