Went to the HP web site and found a generic guide that shows a pick up bar jam that can cause the indication of a paper jam.

I cannot find the location on my K8600 that matches the illustration. I am frustrated and disappointed in this printer from HP. I always thought they were the best, but this is my second. It is a refurbished unit from HP as a replacement to the first one that failed. Any advice short of throwing it into a river will be greatly appreciated. I hope that a suggestion that fixes this unit comes soon or it will be the last HP that I will buy. I just bought 4 XL black and 2 each of the color XL ink cartridges expecting it to last another year. Now I have the ink and it does not work. That is the way things go.
That guide is for a Photosmart printer, whereas yours is an Officejet Pro...different machines with different instructions....
You probably saw the clear a paper jam article for your machine here, but please note that it suggests you do this with the machine on, and complete the instructions by pressing resume.
Have you done that?
Here's the key to any other error lights you may get, with recommended solutions.
Finally, you won't be surprised to hear that many of these printers need to be reset to overcome false error conditions. Instructions for that are here, and here.
If you make a creative search of the HP support site, you may find more information, but I'm hoping that will get you out of the river.
If the first reset fails, wait longer before reconnecting and try again...
Good luck with it. There's not much more frustrating than a printer that won't.
I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!
