HP K8600 indicates paper jam no paper is jam visiable

Went to the HP web site and found a generic guide that shows a pick up bar jam that can cause the indication of a paper jam. Normal 0 http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=bpy20071&lc=en&cc=us&product=60363&dlc=
I cannot find the location on my K8600 that matches the illustration. I am frustrated and disappointed in this printer from HP. I always thought they were the best, but this is my second. It is a refurbished unit from HP as a replacement to the first one that failed. Any advice short of throwing it into a river will be greatly appreciated. I hope that a suggestion that fixes this unit comes soon or it will be the last HP that I will buy. I just bought 4 XL black and 2 each of the color XL ink cartridges expecting it to last another year. Now I have the ink and it does not work. That is the way things go.

That guide is for a Photosmart printer, whereas yours is an Officejet Pro...different machines with different instructions....
You probably saw the clear a paper jam article for your machine here, but please note that it suggests you do this with the machine on, and complete the instructions by pressing resume.
Have you done that?
Here's the key to any other error lights you may get, with recommended solutions.
Finally, you won't be surprised to hear that many of these printers need to be reset to overcome false error conditions. Instructions for that are here, and here.
If you make a creative search of the HP support site, you may find more information, but I'm hoping that will get you out of the river.
If the first reset fails, wait longer before reconnecting and try again...
Good luck with it. There's not much more frustrating than a printer that won't.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

My HP Officejet Pro K8600 prints crooked, how do I fix that?

is the paper going thrugh crooked?
make sure the paper is in the tray and the guides are night and straight.
if that is ok, look for something that makes the paper turn crooked by hitting it, such as a lost scrap of paper or a paperclip where it does not belong.

Lights indicate cartridge stalled

This would be due to a bad sensor, I am kinda wondering how you cleard your jammed paper when it got jammed in this unit. Hp printer have sensitive sensors in them if they get pulled or rubbed the wroung way with stock they have to be replaced.

so the wrokaround would be:

1. try cleaning the unit with a cleaning kit put out by hp.

2. if the above does not work you need totake this in for service.

I know how fustrating it is to have this printer go bad on you inthe time of need the printer is only trying to protect itself from more damage. You will find this on all printer in today;s market. Not only in printers also in computers everything now has a fail safe that is why they hire us to pull you through without charging you a bug repair bill.

HP 4L printer indicates no paper when the tray has

When you removed the paper jam, was the paper torn? If so, did you ensure that you found all the pieces. (Put the piece of paper back together like a puzzle to verify). There could be a piece of paper stuck in the printer that is causing the paper sensor to fail.
The other possibility is that when you removed the paper jam, something became dislodged in the printer. Forcefully removing paper from the printer can cause this.

Re HP Laserjet 4P after inserting envelope to print, upon giving PRINT command, printer will not print and indicates PAPER JAM. However, there is no real paper jam. No problem printing regular 8 1/2 x 11...

Most likely a bad pick up roller these machines will give a jam error if the paper or envelope is not picked up. Try cleaning the roll for the tray you are having the trouble with if the condition improves you have found the problem.
Hope this helps

Printer keeps jamming paper

without some information about the kind of printer and the weight/thickness of the paper, try to supply more information in a comment if you can, this is a generic answer.
many printers have a paper thickness adjustment that helps ensure that only one sheet is picked up at a time, and that the sheet feeds accurately,
if two or more sheets are picked up there are jams as multiple sheets do not feed well, and may not even get out of the paper tray. If the printer is set for a thicker paper, the lead edge of thinner sheets may miss its aimed path and wrap around guides or rollers, jamming.
The makers web page, or the user guide if you still have it, often have FAQ on paper jams,

Paper Jam with no Jam

You may have overloaded your paper feeder with heavy card stock and caused a very tiny jam that you have not found yet so that it will act oddly as it is. Look right up inside unit with a torch and down back where the paper goes in.Try printing on plain a4 agian, place a small stack in feeder, reset paper guides too. Also could be your paper sensor, fixable under warranty.
