Kenmore Dryer 110.64632300 won't heat up!

Issue just recently started...Dryer got really hot and smell as if something was burning...shut it off and pushed the start button to run...never heated again. Troubleshooting taken steps thus far:

Replaced heater element and thermal fuse
Cleaned out lint filter
Disconnected flexible aluminum vent-ran dryer still NO HEAT

Volt meter is reading 0.3 volts (violet wire) from Timer to the Thermostat Internal Bias.

I have a frigidare dryer 5-6 years old. Recently, started smelling like something electrical is burning. If I hold down the start button the motor will turn the drum slowly and the burning smell returns....

Check for vent blockages! Overheating may be a serious issue and fire hazzard. A slow moving drum could mean a bad traction belt, jammed mechanical part or the motor is not spinning at a proper RPM which may indicate motor damage also. The electrical burning is a serious issue also and a fire hazzard. Dryers need periodical cleaning to remove excess lint, dust and debris. Lack of cleaning causes the dryer to work harder and run hotter. Excessive heat shortens the life of many parts such as belts, bearings, electronics, wiring, etc...

Kenmore Electric Dryer Series 80 Model

Disconnect the dryer from your vent completely,. pull dryer out 3 ft. from wall and test to see if the smell continues, You have to test for a few minutes to clear out any burning lint from vent restrictions. If the smell hoes away then you know you have venting problems. Also check on the grate that covers the element( the part you look through when you see the orange glow from the element) sometimes plastic or clothing burns onto this grate and needs to be cleaned off. I the smell remains, you will have to tear down the dryer to see if you can find the cause of the smell.

Kenmore dryer. Heats up intensely

Hi, It's an over heating motor that's cousing the thermal switch to trip, on the motor.

Motor retails for $150.
Labor for putting it in is $90.

It might just be worth replacing it.
Sorry for the bad news :(

Best of luck.

Kenmore dryer gets really hot on top of the dryer, not while clothes are drying but when finished, kinda scary?

Remember heat rises. However if it burns your hand or you can smell something you need to unplug the power to it asap. Most of them come with a one year in home service repair. It takes a while the heating elements to get hot in the dryer so that's probably why it seems its getting hot on top after the clothes have been in for a while.

Dryer shutting off too early. Faint smell of something burning?

Check the vent for clogging condition that will turn off unit and cause it to overheat. If vent goes up to roof check up there also - that is where mine was clogged with a sort of paper mache clog!!!!!

Dryer burning smell

Have you painted or stained in your house or apartment recently? The smell gets everywhere, dryer, stove, heating unit. I recently primed with Kilz and the clothes from my dryer smelled burned. When I called for service, it was the first question the service person asked and said they made a lot of useless trips only to find nothing wrong with the appliance. That was my case. I had to rewash clothes and let the dryer run with towels for a while
