I have some issues on my Whirlpool electric range. Model RF262LXST. The cooktop works fine but the oven stopped working 5 to 10 minutes after pressing the START button.
Here is the detail of the issues. Please give me some feedback and advice. Thanks in advance!
Bake function problem: Turned Bake on, oven became hot, after 5 to 10 minutes, oven display blank or flashing (sometimes with flashing clock time, sometimes just blank)
Broil function problem: Turned Broil on, then pushed oven light button once, oven display turned off automatically
I had to turn on one of the cooktop elements to bring the oven display back on. The oven failed again in a few minutes when using Bake or Broil.

Meanwhile, let's try resetting your range by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. It is important to wait approximately ten minutes and then turn your range on. i have a whirlpool gobal accu bake system with microwave on top oven on bottom model number gmc 275pd56 serial number xp1006922 but went to whirl pool site to get manual cant find it but the oven works fine the microwave everything total works but dont warm noithing help please
Oven suddenly stopped to work. After trying to turn on "bake" or "broil" I can hear couple clicks but nothing else happens. No flame/no gas is coming out.
Most likely you just need the main control board, and not the touch pad with the ribbon that goes to the board. Because the technician could not tell for sure he or she did not want to hang themselves installing a part when both are needed. The only sure way is to replace a part and see if it works usually changing the board fixes the problem, rarely are both needed.

It sounds like you have an oven problem rather than a start button problem. Is there an error code? If so list your model and error code on a search engine and you will find error codes. Or you can just list make model number and error codes and you can find a chart of Whirlpool error codes. I have done this with no problem. That should tell you the exact problem and things to try.
It may be neither issue you mentioned. It could be a bad element or a short.
We read on another site that sometimes an electical surge messes something up and that if you unplug the range for a few minutes it will reset. So we unplugged our range and when we plugged it in again it worked fine.
I live in a new 500 home subdivision. The contractor ordered all Whirlpool Gold products including Electric and Electric/Gas Ranges. Many of my neighbors' panels have gone out! I'm talking about epedemic trouble. My son has had his oven panel (separate from stovetop) fail within the first year. Thank God it was under warranty...this is not a cheap replacement (he had the sensor touch pad. I just had my oven pad fail. I tried to set the clock for Daylight Savings and found out half my panel is out! The fix is a replacement of the panel. Depending on which model (push or sensor) look to spend at least a couple of hundred bucks. We have the Whirlpool Gold microwave panel and so far so good. My neighbor and my son's both went out! They just tossed the two year old products and replaced them with another brand. Sorry to break you the news...class action anyone?
