go to settings. press languages. change the language from Spanish to English. or people calling you might speak Spanish to prank you or they're calling you from spain.
go to setting
language option comes with A
click on it
it'll show all language option
now select your default language
also change the keyboard setting
I do not speak spanish at all. I do have an N900 and you have to go to the menu and then to settings. You will find the Language and region button (it has a world map on it)
From there the first item is Device Language and you can switch to English from there. Then click Save and that's it :-)
You probably have the wrong country listed in your keyboard layout. Each country has a different keyboard layout, as some languages need frequent access to accents and special characters.
I'm presuming you have Windows; and I don't know which version, so I can only give general instructions on how to fix it:
In Control Panel, there's a setting for 'regional settings' or 'region & language'...something like that. Click on it. In there somewhere is 'input settings' or 'keyboard settings'. Change this to the country you got the keyboard from.
For example, I'm English & living in Spain. So I loaded an English version of Windows, but I have to set it to 'Spanish keyboard' as I bought the laptop in Spain and the keys on the keyboard are in the Spanish configuration.
