i have a slim ps2 and the laser wont move and if i try to move it it clicks and it hard to move please help me out, it would save me the money of buying a new one
are you a cute blond? i give you alot of credit, but your going about it wrong. 1.you need to know if there is red/blue coming out of the laser. 2.is the laser focusing (moving up and down) 3.the spindle height has to be at the correct height for the laser to read the disk (thus spinning it) and the spindle also had had problems with this unit. (you can clean it up ) 4. once it spins the disk it has to read the TOC (table of contents)which means it has to move to the inner most part of the cd 5 send me you name address and if your busy friday! lol
I had the very same problem with my ps2. What I had found was that I had indeed gotten a nonfunctioning laser. After I installed another new laser, the system functions without any problem. I hope this information helps you.
if the laser is moved to the middle of the area and when you first turn it on it doesn't go back to starting possession's then some thing is wrong with the motor drive more than not it's likely you have a crack in the board.
ok...well all of you people are just **** him!
the actual problem is that you probably dropped the ps2 and the case lid got a bit lose......
what you have to do (if you dont want to buy a whole ps2 case again) is tap the ps2 on the top of the lid when it goes into the cd browser screen and it will work perfectly fine
just make sure you dont tap i too hard or else we will have another problem...lol!
Did you remove the anti static solder blob (point) on your new laser with a soldering iron and solder wick prior to installing it? The symptons your explaining indicate that point is still intact, If so you will need to carefully remove it first then reinstall the laser and try again.
