Disconnect your speakers and test the amp. If the protection light goes out , check your speaker wires with a meter for resistance and check the speakers for a shorted coil. Hope this helps. If you need further help, post a comment and I can help you further.

If you are familiar with a meter, set it to resistance ohms. If the voice coil has an issue it would read "1....." or if analog it would peg to the right. If you don't, take your speaker to Radio Shack or any Car Audio shop and they will test it for Free. Hope this helps

Cant figure out what all the wires go to

Most car stereos have wiring for power, ground, speakers and amps/accessories, if you do not have an amp or fewer speakers you will not use all the wires, look in your manual or look on line for a wiring diagram to see what all the wires go to. Your main wires will be main power (usually Red) Back up power (for memory usually orange or yellow) a ground wire (usually Black) and speaker wires.

FUC% the protection light

i had a similar problem with my amp (although a different brand). Check you ground connection and make sure it's not grounded to metal with paint covering it. This is NOT a solid ground connection. You must remove the paint then reconnect it. Without a solid connection to ground, it cant run for very long without going into protection mode. Hope this helps

My vr3 amp is in power protect mode. its been that way for about 2 weeks and i dont know how to get it out of that mode. what should i do ?

First, check your ground connection-in fact just redo the connection, perhaps "cleaner" metal contact? Check all connections and test the subs and/or mids with a continuity testor to make sure the speakers aren't blown.
Good Luck

Protection mood

Hello john_hart,

Check the speaker wiring too. If one of the speaker wires is shorted or grounded, the amp will go into protection mode.

Hope this helps.

Protection light flashes on and i get nothing

Hello shwoop22,

It sounds like power is shorting out or the amp is defective. With the fuse removed, use a multimeter set to ohms and check between the power terminal to ground.

The protection light will normally come on if the amp overheats (for example when running with too low impedance), or if the speakers are shorted.

Hope this helps.

VR3 Amp Protection Light problem

Looks like you have covered all the basics.

The remote wire is the switch that turns the amp on and off. So you are probably just killing the power to the amp.

Sounds like a short in the amp itself if all the input and output wires are disconnected and the protection is still coming on.
