While watching the TV has suddenly taken to going from the blue startup AKAI screen to a black screen over and over. When it goes to black "AIR 2" appears in red in the upper right corner with mono directly beneath it. The words "Full Screen TV" appear in the bottom right as well. It will then go completely black for a few seconds and then go back to the blue screen. Dispite turning the TV off and on and unpluging and re-plugging it in the problem persists.
Air 2 is the source it's looking at for a signal - - where is the signal plugged into? and are you able to change the input or source to look at another?

Quite possibly the logic main board has failed, more specifically the micro controller Ic on that board. That would explain all the symptoms you're describing except being locked on an input you had not selected in the first place. That means you could also have a secondary problem - maybe with the digital board - but my best advice on this one is find yourself a good qualified shop in Plasma/LCD and take it to them. They're going to need to do some logic and signal trace testing with a scope to find out why the commands are stuck in a loop.
Usually the repair on this one is done at modular level, not component. Which means they'll be replacing a board not just a small part or two.. The great thing is Akai is built by Samsung so they won't have too much difficulty locating parts and unlike some off-brand the parts won't be unaffordable.
Good Luck!

No, I am unable to change the input source as the switching from blue screen to black occurs every few seconds. The problem started in the middle of a program, noone was touching the remote or TV to change the input source.
