Ck your mirror lock setting. This setting is for cleaning, and what you described is just what happens on this setting.

New nikon D 200 few months old.

Since yesterday, I need to press twice to shoot. With the first click the shutter opens ( I think) as there will be no vision through the eye finder. Then I need to click again. With the second click it shoots and everything gets back.

I did try changing the settings. with no diffrence. With shutter or apreture priority or manual and P it remains the same.

Any help will be appreciated.

Are you referring to a lens that has the Vibration Reduction? These are the settings:

  • Normal - The image stabilization is on, but is for when you just hold the camera "still" by hand or are using a uni-pod.
  • Active - The image stabilization is REALLY on, it's for when you have a shaky hand, like in a car or boat, or no uni-pod and you need extra sensitivity to control shake.
I have the 70-200mm VS f2.8. Boy, it's great.

Hope this helps, if it does, please set to FixYa!

Auto focus mirror is not folding up completely.

I do not understand your question?

Do you mean that when you set the lens to 18mm, the lens is not folded completely? That is the normal behviour. The lens that comes with the kit 18-55mm, folds completely at 35mm more or less.

Blinks FE E ..what does that mean?

This normally means that the lens is not locked at its smallest aperture. Are you getting this with the 18-70mm lens? If so, try cleaning the electrical contacts, both on the back of the lens and in the mount on the body.

If you're getting this on a lens with an aperture ring, it's perfectly normal. Simply turn the ring to its smallest aperture (largest f/number) and lock it. You can let the camera control the aperture, or control it from the body yourself, the same way as on a lens without an aperture ring.

I have nikon d40 with 18-55 lens. when i press capture button there is a noise(i think inside the lens) and r07 displays in the viewfinder at right hand side corner. is that a problem or its normal?

Hi there its happens when the lens not ready for work. Some how its not able to stable his focus method. That's why its stuck & you get that noise. There is a chances of lens guide pin disturbed or damaged & thats why continues failure. Its mean he inform you there is a system error. So please visit the service center for repair that. Its a very common & repairable problem. Thanks.

Nikkor af-s 18-200 VR not focusing

Please check your focus settings in the camera menu. Play around with the focus point from Single to 11 points. Also, try Auto mode as a quick way to test if the focus is working

Auto focus at full zoom not responding Nikon D80 with 18-200mm VR

Hi - I own this lens and it manually focuses at all focal lengths (hard to see at 18mm unless your subject is extremly close). You may need to get the lens checked. BTW - Mine was set as follows when I checked for you:
  • D80 was "on"
  • M/A
  • VR = Off
  • Normal (not Active)
Hope this helps!

"Lens not attached" warning when lens is in fact attached.

Hello. Check the area around the lens mount carefully - specifically the contacts. Make sure all are clean and protruding the same. If one is lower than the rest, try 'flicking' it with a fingernail (lightly) to see if it will pop up to the height of the others. It may have dirt or a particle of dust lodged. If this doesn't help, get the lens to Nikon for a check-up.

D200

Do you mean that you turned off auto focus on the shutter button? The manual will tell you where to find the appropriate custom setting. It's Menu > custom setting menu > a Autofocus > a6 AF activation.

Hope this helps.

What does the fEE error message displayed on an SLR camera mean?

The "fEE" error indicates that the camera is not communicating with the lens. The lens may not be attached to the camera properly, or if it has an aperture ring, it may not be set to f22 (or the highest aperture number of the lens) - which is normally marked in orange. Select this aperture and lock it using the aperture locking switch to prevent this from occuring again. The fEE error message Set to f22, or the highest aperture number - normally marked in orange. Note the locking switch.
