Typical kero heater uses either a spark ignition or a hot surface. The hot surface igniter is very fragile. A small bump may break the elements. Flame is detected by a photocell, signal is sent to the lockout relay board. Change the igniter costs about 50 bucks.

When filled with kerosene then plugged in, the heater will kick on for about 3 seconds and the fan will run but it will not ignite, then it shuts off. reddy heater 55, 55000btu. runs on K1 or fuel oil.

All Pro K75 will not ignite. Spark igniter does

most kerosene heaters are basically the same - reddy heat, dynaglow, desatech are all the same. there's a small air compressor built into the axially mounted fan that points forward. the air pressure needed for fuel is 3-5 psi not less, not more! the air feeds through a side inlet to the fuel nozzle where it creates a vacuum venturi to **** fuel from the tank and propels it through a fan nozzle. the aerrated fuel hits the hot surface or spark and ignites. as long as there is heat and air the heater should function.

Igniter lites up fan kicks on and within 5 sec shuts off

Dustin, The ignitor only glows for 5 seconds, just long enough to ignite the fuel. The heater is shutting down because the photocell does not see the correct flame color.
Since you say "comes on for 5 seconds", I can only assume that there is a flame. You do not specify a lack of flame. I am also assuming that you have had the heater running this heater season and the problem just started.

YOU must find out if the problem is fuel delivery related or electronics related. Start by checking the pump pressure.
