My unit turns on and blows for a minute, then stops blowing.

It sounds like you may have electric heat. With that being the case and your description of a burning smell indicates an electrical problem. Since you did get it to start heating it sounds like a possible heat relay problem. I have also found burned connections and I was able to repair them and get the heat strips working again. If you know an air-conditioning and heating technician or electrician you should try to get assistance. The voltage in these units is dangerous and one mistake could only make things worse.

I would take it to an accredited ac specialist shop if you have to. The burning plastic smell is from a shorted wire ( ac compressor solenoid or thermostat under the dash)

If you're smelling insulation burning - STOP. Fuses should be blowing before insulation melts / burns.

Have the car checked my a trusted mechanic before using anything in the car that makes the wiring burn or melt.

It can also be a suppression capacitor by the switch , or the electric field itself one or both coil fiels are gone.

Could have been the resistor or the blower motor. It was probably a burning wire smell.
Check the blower motor for power and ground.

What's your question ??????? Where do smell the burnt electricals ? Wiring harness burnt ? Fix it !

Smoke and smell of plastic indicates that there is a short circuit inside. It is the protective covering on the electric wires. Unplug the refrigerator from the wall and call the repair person.

Hi blow it out with a vac see if the smell stops

Got the same problem, front blower does not work but the rear blower runs great...Need Help!!

you forgot to say if it is a 3 phase machine
if it is 3 phase then a phase in the unit is overheating and that will stop the machine then blow the breaker as all phases have to draw equal current
if it is a single phase then the start/ run capacitor or centrifugal start run points are not breaking at speed and so the start windings are overheating and causing the breaker to trip
Take it to an electrical motor rewind shop and have it properly tested with test equipment
