Question about SanDisk 2GB Cruzer Micro SDCZ62048A10 Hard Drive

1 Answer

Sandisk flash drive

I have bought a sandisk cruzer micro 4.0gb usb flash drive.
It said it is Vista compatible.
However it keeps saying:
Windows was unable to install your SanDisk U3 Cruzer Micro USB device
Windows could not find software for your device.

I have another older flash drive that also doesn't work on this new Vista system. That is why I purchased this new Flash Drive.

When I plugged in my sandisk a popup comes up with 'window needs to install driver software for your Sandisk U3 Cruzer Micro USB device'. My pc is Windows Vista. However I have an older 2GB Sandisk U3 Smart Cruzer Micro which worked well on my Vista but I needed more storage. I emailed Sandisk but got no response.

having the same problem. An older PNY 2GB drive works fine but the Cruzer Micro has the same symptoms described by jenlyn03. Unable to locate the XPSP2 driver the solution posted by kd-boss mentioned. Does Sandisk plan an update? or is there another driver that will work?

Is the account that your tying to access the drive with an Administrator account? If not, Log in as Administrator and try to access the new drive. If you ARE using Administrator privileges on the vista machine, the problem lies in the U3 smart driver. Try downloading and installing the drivers for the XP SP2 os on scan disks website, If vista rejects the install package off of the scan disk website, let me know and i'll extract the drivers and build an install for them for you.

Sandisk flash drive

Vista has not been out long enough for any company to state that there product is compatible. I would check there website to see if they have updated drivers that will make the sandisk usb drive compatible. This may fix the problem!
