I am receiving an "E3" Paper Jam error code, and can't get my printer to work. Any idea as to how to fix it? (There is no paper jammed in the printer).
Thank you! I tried turning the power off, unplugging it, etc., etc., but that didn't work. I will try looking into the printer with a flashlight tomorrow. Hi, I had exactly the same error today - Paper jam! But there is no paper in the printer. And same exact thing that jmcarr had happen to me. I also did find a "black twisty wire" stucked to the roller where we drop the paper. Now my printer is back to normal again. Thankfully, I read this website and all your comments. Same shit here, a4 paper feeding was jamming but printing for smaller photo paper worked ok.
unplugged wires, printer up-side down and got very small part (external object) out of the paper feeder.
Now it works ok again. Thanks man for advice. I love my kids ;) Same shit here, a4 paper feeding was jamming but printing for smaller photo paper worked ok.

This same prolem has plagued many with the MP150 cannon printer, Here's what I did to fix this...E3 code shown in window
when no actual paper jam could be viewed ! I did the restart thing
by turning the printer OFF and waited (10) seconds or more, then
when I turned it back on...I listened to here the feed rollers turning
and forced feed a sheet of paper into the feed rollers..and sure enough OUT CAME a small piece of paper..actually a small strip of glossy paper like a strip that might be attached to a part during manufactureing..any way that paper has printing on it, it says;
(nitto No.500) it would be interesting to know if others out there
find the same piece of paper !! Give this fix a try. Palcando.
HEYY GUYS MY PAPER HAD NT CAME OUT YET I HAD TRIED ALL THE THINGS WHICH U ALL SAID BUT STILL ITS STUCKED WHAT TO DO NOW........AND MY PRITER'S INK IS ALSO FINISHED N I THINK THAT THE PAPER INSIDE IT IS NT STRAIGHT WHAT TO DO GUYS TELL ME FAST!
I had the same error that started last night! There was no paper jammed, but after several hours of trying to get it to work, I did find a black twisty tie stuck on the roller and that was causing the problem (I have no idea where that came from!) If you are sure there is no debris or foriegn objects stuck in there somewhere, just try resetting the machine. Turn the power off, unplug it from the power source and remove the USB cable if it is connected to a computer. Then plug it back in and turn it back on. Press the start button (black or color) and hopefully that clears it. If not, look again for something stuck in the paper feed tray, also lift up the cover and look in there with a flashlight - to see if anything is wedged in there. If that still does not fix it, try calling the Canon tech support line - 1-800-828-4040. I hope you're able to get your printer working again. Good luck.

Error E3 is a paper jam. Open the main cover and look for a small piece of paper behind where the carriage (the printhead and cartridges holder) sits on the right side of the machine. There is a small hole in the metal frame where a sensor arm sits. This little black arm should move freely. I bet it does not and there is paper stuck around it.
E3 means that there is a paper jam. If you are getting the E3 error and there is not an actual paper jam you may need to do is simulate a paper jam. Try inserting paper crooked to cause a jam so that when it starts trying to feed the paper through it gets jammed. Then lift the cover up and take the paper out. You'll then get a bunch of the lights flashing. Turn the printer off and then back on and you should be good to go.
make sure you open all check points, if yours has a rear feed through, look in there also. it only takes a tiny piece of paper to cause it to say that. use a flash light, have had to use one to find several that way.
I have had a MP 150 Cannon Printer with a E3 paper jam code..when NO visable paper jam is present ! Your No paper problem may be as a result of similar issue due to a small piece of paper stuck in the roller assembly out of sight. TRY this, Turn printer off wait (10 seconds) or more then turn printer back ON and listen for roller assembly to turn the ROLLERS and then FORCE FEED
a sheet of paper into rollers until it PULLS paper through and SEE if any scrap of paper comes out with the sheet !! If this works you should see that it clears the code. and resets your printer.
Let me know if this works. Phil at [email protected]
Hi! Have you checked the correct source for paper feed? you can use either sheet fed paper tray at base of printer and from top loose sheet feed. Make sure selection is correct, button below/to right of pwere switch.
Hope this sorts it, it did this on mine.
