Check your settings in the Receiver Main Menu. Go to Speaker settings, then to Subwoofer, and select "Yes" or "On" or it may say "LFE or Both" choose "Both" Hope this helps. If you still have a problem, post a comment and I can help you some more

How is the audio connected to the TV (be specific)?
Keep in mind that a TV is not generally an audio source as its programming always comes from something higher up the audio food chain than itself. Get the audio to your receiver from whatever THAT is, not the TV.
You might try connecting only one speaker at a time and see if you can
locate a bad speaker OR bad output channel that way. If you find
that you connect one speaker and the problem occurs then try another
working speaker and see if it still does it. If it does, then you
have an output problem. Good luck.
You can connect the VX7 to the 5730 using an RCA Y cable like the one shown in the picture below. You get your one connection for the receiver and 2 for the VX7. These are available at any electronics store. Remember that the cable should be long enough to go from the receiver to where subwoofer will be placed. Hope this helps. Let me know.
