Question about Canon PowerShot A530 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Battery issue Hi, I've owned this camera for about 1 year. In the last couple of months the red battery icon will flash and the camera will shut down thinking it has dead batteries. The problem is, we may put in brand new batteries or fully charged re-chargable batteries and the icon is there right away. Does the mini battery inside need to replaced? If that isn't the problem then I have no idea what is wrong with thing......my last camera did the same thing (Fugi)

I have had my Canon Powershot A540 for two years.  I use rechargeable AA Energizer Batteries.  In the last month or so they began discharging very rapidly.  I bought a new charger, and new batteries, but problem persisits.  Batteries die quickly, sometimes over two days, sometimes within two hours without having taken any photos but with camera on.  The camera guy at the store suggests I get a new camera for what it would cost to find out what the problem is.  However, I would like to know what the problem is, and perhaps a different solution.

Sorry for the late response (don't know how I missed this post?). Some of The Canon Powershot A530 and A540 cameras are subject to an advisory recall. Seems that a small spring on the battery compartment door can short out the batteries. Suspect this of yours, in that you mention that your camera's battery icon is flashing. If your camera is on the list, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. I have a Canon PowerShot A530 camera which is around 4 years old. till recently it was working great but from last 3 months, it is giving false indication of low batteries and shuts down. Even after full...

if you are using this camera for 4 yrs with the same lithium battery then you might need to try a new battery
any lithium battery cell's capacity diminishes after long use. it reduces the cell's ability to deliver current. the older batteries do not charge as much as new one.
when you charge your battery it irreversibly loses approximately 20% capacity per year.
hope this help

I am trying to charge the battery. The charger is flashing a red light and the battery won't seem to charge. Placed it in the camera just in case, and it won't turn on.

Well, with my Nikon, the light flashes to show the battery is charging. It stays on when it's charged. My battery and spare battery are 2 years old and working fine. I'd say wait till it stops flashing...hour or 2 in my case, though I never let them run down all the way.

HTC S710 - Battery issue

Hi guys

if u buy new battery for around 35$... its creepy thing that it again sucks within
6 month
so follow these procedure that i really got good response

1)Buy the new battery from any other dealers (u can use Nokia (std) or LG, Micromax, Onida... etc)
having same specifications as 1050mAh Lion-POLYMER 3.7v and having equivalent Size that fit into the case.

2)Now open ur dead battery, remove the sticker slowly, u wil get the polythene bag carrying the charge sheets
.
3)Please note that dont not disturb this polythene bag... (cutting, drilling or pinning), else it starts burning.

4)U will see a circuit above the polyhthene bag having two poles (+ve n -ve) just cut the poles of bag from the circuit and keep the bag aside

5)Now do the same procedure with new batt and remove the polythene bag.. and soilder with
the dead battery circuit. (check the +ve n -ve by multimeter)

5)Re-assemble with insulation tape and recondition it perfectly.
now check poles bofore starting.

Note : i got good result from this and i m getting 18-19hrs standby and 11-15hrs usage. Do it on ur own risk...and i m not responsable for ny harm)

Casio Ex-z77 Battery issue? Tried charging battery..instead of constant red light while charging which changes to green when charged, now flashes red. Charger broken? Battery broken?

Had the same problem and contacted Casio and they sent out a new battery. Our camera was in the last month of its Casio 1 year Warranty so I don't know what they will do if yours is out of warranty. They didn't give me any resistance at all so I guess it is something they know is a problem.

Battery?

Hi,

I am afraid that your battery has malfunctioned. You will need to buy a new one. But before buying a new battery try leaving the battery out of the phone overnight, then try chargnig again.

Flashing red icon

It must be the internal battery problem. Change the button cell that is located near the charging input jack.

Flash problems, Casio Ex-z3

Try resetting your camera. Sometimes it is just an issue with the flash charging. In rec mode press menu go to setup tab go up to reset press right arrow highlight reset press set If that doesn't work then u will have to send it in. :)
