DELL A940-Good connection-no printing

When I recently purchased a new laptop installed with Vista I had to get the new install program from the Dell website for my Dell A940 printer. Ever since I installed the printer on my new PC the printer will not print. I have a good connection because when I do print a job from the PC the printer puts a piece of paper through the printer and it sounds like it is printing but nothing is printer on the page... it is compeletely blank. The cartridges are both new. I figured even if there was a connection problem, the printer would still sucessfully print a copied page from the scanner, however it even copied pages come out completely blank. I have done the nozzle cleaning and the other maintenance checks and still no printing. Any suggestions.

My problem is similar. I purchased a new wireless laptop. I got it connected to my A940 Dell printer. The problem is it sends a message that printing cannot be completed. Do I need to install the new program for the laptop? If so how do I get the appropriate program to install? Any suggestions?

My new computer, Dell Inspiron 570 will not communicate with my old printer, Dell A940, All-in-One. How do I fix?

Hi Barbra,
Check all connections.
Have you installed the printer drivers?
Try un-installing and installing the printer drivers again.
Was there change in the operating system?[Say you were using windows xp and now you're using windows vista]You may need to install the driver that corresponds with your operating system. You can download the drivers from this link:www.siliconguide.com/drivers/device/583/

Hope this helps.Thanks!

I have a Dell A940 connected to my old Dell desktop, which I want to keep. How can I get it to print from my new laptop? I cannot find any USB ports on the printer to connect.

Specs state that it is USB - probably a "USB-B" connector. Anyway, how is it connected to your desktop? Surely you can take the USB lead from the printer out of the back of your desktop and plug it in your laptop? Am I missing something here? Specs don't say it is a "parallel" connector (unless it has both). If it has both (and you are using the parallel connection (big plug with many pins) on your desktop then there should be a USB-B socket on printer next to the big parallel socket.

Install dell old a940 printer on new acer aspire 5920 notebook with windows vista

I have the same problem but with an acer 5570Z. It used to work with the dell all-in-one, however, one day it just stopped working. It always says it cannot communicate with the printer. I've tried uninstalling it, and reinstalling it several times---no luck.

Printer all in one A940 from Dell

Vista is a brand spanking new OS. Your printer may need updated drivers to be compatable with vista. It should otherwise install automatically as it has in past. Go to dell website, and download the most recent driver (vista compatable) from them. It wouldn't hurt to see if cahnges in manual too and download it also.
