Question about Sony GV-D1000 Mini DV VCR

1 Answer

Sony GV-D1000 unable to be recognized.

For some reason my GV-D1000 can't be recognized by either computer I possess. Both are custom made, one's been recently reformatted, and both equipped with firewire cards. At first my main computer couldn't read anything connected to the firewire slot, but now it can read everything except for my mini dv vcr. Could someone help me understand whether this is a hardware problem on my recorder or perhaps a setting is incorrect. I don't think there is a driver specifically for this problem but I'm pretty computer ignorant. Also keep in mind my dv recorder used to work fine on my older computer, but since I reformatted it doesn't, Please help.

I have the same problem. I have taken it apart and see that the connections from the firewire get all the way to the circuit board with a continuity checker. so there is something on the board that is not connecting.

There is one setting in the menu where you can turn on/off the DV out.

    curious also.

Launch video editing software...it should be able to see your deck. none of my three macs "recognize" the deck, but finalcut pro sees and can control the deck once it is connected and turned on

Hi there How can we connect Sony GV-D1000E with MacBook Pro (2010 model) please?

You need a firewire cable.
Most likely a 4 to 6 pin unit unless the Mac has an 800 port, then use a 4 to 9 pin.

My apple computer does not seem to recognise my gv-d1000e when linked via USB. Does it have to be linked via firewire?

Forget USB. Firewire is the best way to link to your Apple computer. Depending on the software your are using you will be able to control your Sony unit from your Apple computer. You could not do that via USB. Also firewire, or in your case i.Link is much faster. Just make sure you have a firewire port on your Apple and the proper software and you should be set. I hope to see your video's on Youtube! : ) Good Luck!

Sony GV-D1000 Powers on, will play memory stik, but not tape

C:31:23 error code means problem is in Supply Reel section.
If you are tech person you might got the point.
Unit has mechanical problem in supply reel area and reel pulse is not being generated as supply reel table may be stuck due to back tension.
Let me know if you need further help.
