Power issues I am a Hp pavilion a250n which has an power issue. Heres what happened. I was playing a game when a blue screen came up with a high pitch sound coming from the computer. When I turned off the computer and turned it back on there was no picture coming on the screen. So I turned off the computer off and repeat the process. Still no picture. So I turned off the computer and unpluged the computer from the power supply. I plug it back in and the same problem came up again meaning it will not boot. I did that same process back over. But when I plug the computer back in the power supply the computer did not come on. I push the power button many times and even unpluged it and pluged it back in. Nothing. I even tryed different power supplys.Nothing. But i did notice one thing, When I wiggle the connecter plugin from the computer to the power supply, the power supply trys to power on but it acts like the power supply don't gets enough power. But the power is not the problem. May you help me with this problem. I even went on the Hp website and the tryed their troubleshooting tips. Also it did not work. P.S. This is my second computer that has the same problem. Will not power on.

Was one of the tips on the HP site to unplug your Video Card?
The power supply might be having trouble pumping enough power into the card.
After you take out the card and get it to POST, go into the BIOS and turn on the onboard graphics and see if you can get it back to the OS screen.
If that doesnt work post again and ill try to help you further.

What is the best video card for gaming for hp a1726x pc desktop

Depends on the game and the minium requirements. You computer does have a PCI express x16 slot open, so you will want a video card for that slot. The other issue will be a power supply. Like most brands HP puts in the cheapest power supply they can. An extended graphics card will draw more power and therefor wear out your power supply. I would look for something in the range of a 750Watt power supply at minimum. If you post more information about the game you want to play (or games), we can assist you further.

Hope this helps.

When I unplug power supply I get blue screen and it reboots. This is with a new fully charged battery in.

Hi,

Thats a surge thats happening. The comutper will restart for data prevention purposes.

What i suggest you do is vist the HP Support website and select Drivers and Downloads. Input your model number and download the latest BIOS update. install the BIOS update and this should resolve the blue screen issue.

My HP a250n boots up to the windows logo, then the screen goes black and stays that way. Hdd continues to spin.

Sounds like your windows installation was corrupted. Try booting into safe mode from BIOS. If that doesn't work you will need to re-install Windows.
