On the left of your viewfinder you will find a small knurled wheel. By turning this wheel you adjust the diopter settings of the viewfinder. You probably accidentally moved it and didn't know it.

The problem you might be having is that the view finder is out of focus. If this is the problem it is an easy fix. You will see a small wheel next to the view finder (it has a + and a - next to it), look through the view finder and let the camera focus on an object. Now turn the wheel and you will see the image either get worse or start to come in focus. Adjust the wheel until you are satisfied with the clarity.
Does the dot appear on the pictures? If so, this is a dust particle on the sensor. If not, then it is a particle on the focussing screen and really presents no problem.
Adjust view finder focus as you will see setting there, to view correct focus in view finder itself. Camera is just fine because it is taking good focus pictures.
Hi
I have got an S5000 that I can still view previously taken pictures from the card, but when trying to take pictures the screen and view finder shows a peculiar distorted purple and green picture and any picture taken is just a green blur.
I contacted Fuji and they say they can repair it for £90 (about $120)
Hey DarsCanonFix, This camera does have a diopter adjustment on the viewfinder to correct for bad eyesight. I would try adjusting this since it could have been accidentally set incorrectly. If this doesn't work the camera might just need a good cleaning by an authorized service technician. I hope this helps! Sincerely, Allan Go Ahead. Use Us.
the video playback is sampled off the video out and independently processed sorta like a TV signal to project on the lcd screen. horizontal lines means you lost sync circuit and needs troubleshooting. Hopefully maybe a bad connection with a ribbon cable for the ICs and components are hard to change and jammed tight. I would order a video board.
