When I start a wash cycle, the machine attempts to start but only runs for about 6 seconds, then it shows that it is washing, however nothing is happening. I do not hear water coming in. The machine has been working OK for the last 3+ years.
Any advice you can give me will be greatly appreciated.
The machine should make humming noise, before it takes in water check water feed to machine get back if you cant sort it

Intermittent faults are a nightmare, if it happens again try hitting the door where it locks, with PALM of your hand when door is closed, don't use large hammer yet! must go to bed see you. 1-20am here

The water supply is fine; I have already checked this. I removed the hose at the washing machine end and turned the water on; no problem.
It does make a humming noise for a few seconds, but then it just stops.
As I said before the water supply is OK, but I don't hear water entering machine.
The machine did start today after quite a long delay, so I don't know if this is the start of an intermittent problem or otherwise, however something is not quite right, and I would like to get to the bottom of the problem.
Thanks for the input and prompt responses close.
The door light still works as it should OK whether or not the fault is present, do you still reckon it could be the problem?
