Question about Sanyo SR-4911M Compact Refrigerator

The mini fridge does not cool. This fridge doesnt use any fans so nothing to check there. The compressor seems to be awfully hot (although I dont know if thats normal) you wont born your hand but it would be fairly unpleasant to keep touching it. none of the tubes are cool to the touch. everything seems to be warm. Do i need to add new refrigerant and if so can I do it my self - i.e. can I buy the container and fill it up?

    Hello,

I wasn't expecting such quick responses. I haven't had the chance to check everything you've said yet, but I forgot to mention more information here about the situation. This fridge stopped cooling sometime ago (approx 1 yr) so my brother (the previous owner) disconnected it. As far as I know this fridge has been standing upright ever since. The thing is practically in perfect condition.

Also, I cannot remember how "loud" the mini fridge was when it was working but I have a feeling the compressor may not be functioning. All i really hear when the fridge is running is the liquid pouring through the tubes. As for the compressor itself I just hear a quiet fuzzing sound within it.

Thanks again RollPoll - im going to check the other things you mentioned later tonite.

Hi, it's possible, your motor overlay relay has switch off motor, if your days are hot, or if room temp get high, that could happened, unplug ref. let motor cool down for about an hour, if compressor is running, but not cooling, it's possible you got a freon leak, normally ref have a condensate line, that passes through, front of door, that usually get rusted and leak, normally we by-pass it, now if there's a leak, you will have to repair leak first, you will have to change filter drier, vacuum and recharge. no you won't be able to buy freon and tap it up, same princple like vehicle a/c, but, different application, could also be an electrical problem, check motor overload, situated on compressor terminal, remove compressor terminal cover, and you will see overload relay, it's round, has one wire connected to compressor terminal and another connected to wiring harness. also, you can check compressor for short circuit, remove 3 wires from compressor terminal, place one tester lead on copper tubing coming from compressor and next tester lead, place on compressor terminal one by one, if you hear a beep (continuity) from any one of those terminals, compressor windings are faulty, replace compressor, or could just be hot summer months, let it cool down, but remember, remove plug from receptacle. or you are victim of low voltage, low voltages are more frequent in summer months, it could damage compressor winding, or compressor overload relay, let it cool down, and retry it. let me know what happened, before you attempt any repairs. and i can tell you what exactly what the problem are. good luck.

Hi, sound you're hearing, ( like liquid pouring through tube) freon (gas) circulating through evap or condenser, which means, your compressor o/k, there's a freon leak in your system, or compressor, not running long enough, you will need a mechanic. good luck.

No cooling on a Mini Fridge

Does the compressor start up? It has a thermal cut off and a current stareter relay that tend to go out causing the compressor to do nothing without power in it.

Hotpoint mistral plus

Sounds like a faulty thermostat, although fast freeze usually bypasses the stat so should then get to temperature. If the compressor and condenser are getting very hot and all is clean, check there isn't a condenser fan stuck underneath that is seized. If not, may have had a bit of a refrigerant leak and sucked a bit of air into the system. Call an engineer

Hello there, my mini fridge isn't working, dont know why. it doesnt get cold or anything.

A fridge without cooling and the finger points out to the compressor, the motor capacitor and the contactor. So shut off the fridge and put it on to check if the compressor works . If there is no cooling then you must check for the gas pressure and then for the performance of the compressor. If so then get help to test this out and to confirm. If the compressor needs service get quote for service with warranty, then decide accorrdingly. Hope you try this out. Good day

No motor sound, no cooling fridge

Raise your cooling knob to higher levels - just to troubleshoot raise it to maximum and see if the compressor runs. When your compressor cycles off, so does your evap fan, it should not be spinning ! Keep the thermostat to highest position, this is to rule out thermostat poblems, otherwise you will need to call for service and check your control board and compressor relay/run capacitor, etc. More likely a therm out of calibration or set too low.

Burning smell and dead mini-fridge/kegerator

If the compressor is being used for extended times without resting or getting the product cooled, could be the problem. On small refrigerators the inside is sized for the work load. The condenser coil on back or in some cases under the outside skin of the refrigerator is designed to cool the area inside by releasing the heat from inside.. You may need to modify your cooler to handle such loads with more cooling capacity and condenser with fan to help bring the product temps down more efficiently. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Freezer not freezing and fridge not cooling

Check the back wall of the freezer for ice buildup.
If yes, a defrost parts problem.
Check the freezer fan. Is it running?
If no, replace the freezer fan.
Check the condenser fan at the compressor. Is it running?
If no, is compressor hot?
If compressor is hot replace condenser fan motor.
If compressor is not hot.
Replace the compressor start relay.

Koolatron Mini Fridge Overheating

Check the condensor fan behind the fridge which is designed to cool the compressor/gas line by blowing air over the condensor. When this fan motor seizes or stops running, the gas gets very hot and because it is skin cooled too, the outside of the fridge also gets very hot. You can overcome the problem temporarily by putting a standing fan behind the fridge, blowing onto the compressor and under the fridge untill you can have the problem rectified.
