Question about Pioneer Car Audio & Video

1 Answer

I have a pioneer AVH-p2300dvd. is it compatible with playing an audio cd?

The system came with a used car purchase. The unit makes a clicking noise and then spits out the dvd or cd. it won't play either one.

SOURCE: cd/dvd player noise

Something could have been misalligne or not sitting properly in the DVD rom...if the grinding sound is mechanical. The only possible way to cure this is to open the DVD ROM and service its mechanism. Observe DISC that is played if there's any sign of scratches...sign tells that its touching or rubbing something.
Good Luck.

SOURCE: ipod will not play video to my head unit AVH P5900DVD

ok for the first post with the ipod not showing video .. make sure that you have the correct cable running from behind the deck to the ipod .. (iPod Direct Control (CD-I200 Required) once you have that connected you need to go to the video settings of your ipod and turn on the video out .. by default its offf... also remember with movies on your ipod .. that has to be manually selected from the ipod itself .. you cant control the videos from the pioneer unit.. only the audio/music on your ipod can be selected from the pioneer unit..

SOURCE: ERROR CODE 02-60 WHEN TRYING TO PLAY IPOD.

I had the same exact problem with the 4100DVD I got on 5/01/09. I reset my Ipod via the Itunes software. This will wipe your Ipod clean and reinstall everything. I was a bit leary about this but gave it a shot and viola! It is working just as it was when I first purchased 5 days ago.

Make sure you back up your Ipod first. After the reset, it will ask if this is a new install or restore. Select restore and everything is back again, including downloaded games and app. (I have an Ipod Touch)

SOURCE: No videp playback on Pioneer AVH-P4000DVD only getting sound !!!

Just wanted to add my 2 cents for those who might be having the issue of no video but hear audio. I was having the same problem. I had completed the bypass hack with a single throw/single pole (SPST) toggle switch. I could bypass the warning message and hit the OK button but no video. I did hear audio. I searched everywhere but solution 4 worked for me. The thing for me was that next to the black wire on the harness wasn't empty. It had a purple/white wire with some sort of filter (labeled backup camera hook to reverse gear). I tied into this wire before the filter with another wire (I chose a black wire b/c I was grounding it) and grounded it with the black wire (ground) on the harness. I now have video! Maybe the 4 pole relay hack would have worked better but I had only done the toggle switch hack. I hope this helps others and most importantly thank you Salhi.

Toshiba Regza 32LV67U DVD player won't play DVD. put dvd in, it makes 3 attempts to read then spits it out. Can I fix this or is this a take-it-in for service issue?

dvd player will only play movies for the COUNTRY in which you purchased it. There is no way to purchase a system or configure a system to play ALL MEDIA FOR ALL COUNTRIES. The country codes are specific and each country wants to prevent any other country from playing their dvds music, etc.

The DVD will play for awhile then it stops, gets stuck and the media will make clicking noises. Had tried our DVD drive cleaner, thought it helped, but same problem. We just bought this system. We have...

CD/DVD readers have an optical lense and laser that travel on a track as the CD/DVD spins above (or in blu ray above and below) it. The track is about 4 inches long or the width of the CD. It reads from the inside out on a DVD like a record player. The lenses are mounted on gears and it sounds as if they are travelling half the track and running into a physical obstacle that is preventing them from going further.. such as a damaged gear, dirt or debris in gear/rail, etc. The clicking noise is the motor in the head unit trying to move but its not able to overcome the obstacle. If the unit was bought new this is a warranty issue and BOSE will correct it as a product failure. If the unit was bought used then BOSE will still correct but for a fee. Dependent on model of drive used inside the DVD system the cost is going to be more labor than the drive itself, plus shipping. The link to BOSE support is http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/customer_service/index.jsp

Try the FAQ's and if that fails then contact customer support at the bottom link on the support page.

Good luck

My home theater system plays cds but will not play dvds, what can I do to fix it, makes a scratching noise when i put dvds in it, but plays fine with a cd.

There is something wrong with the DVD drive assembly inside. If you're brave, take it apart and check on what is making the noise. Also, try using a q-tip to clean the laser head if it's accessible.

If that doesn't help, it's time for a new DVD player.

This is why I always recommend people buy a home theater system without a DVD player built in. The DVD player is the weakest link, and stand alone DVD players can be purchased for as little as $25 depending on if you want upconversion or not.

If you cannot get the DVD player working in your surround system, just replace it with a stand alone DVD player, if you can, check to make sure there are audio inputs on the back of the receiver. If there are no audio inputs on the receiver, you will have to get the entire surround system replaced. If so, purchase a separate DVD player and surround system.

CD Error

No the loading mechanism has failed, it is a complicated peice of design and they are the most common thing to break on all CD players, you will have to pull the unit and send it out for repair at an authorized GM radio repair center, they are in the phone book and on line under car radio repair

Portable dvd doesnt play movies

Try cleaning the lasers lens with an anti static cleaning wipe. I used " nice'n clean" that I had purchased from Walmart to clean my laptop screen. My dvd player started back playing after gently wiping the laser lens.
