Stop Messages During Installation An unsuccessful attempt to install Windows 2000 can result in a Stop message. When this happens, first check that the computer and all of its peripheral hardware are compatible with Windows 2000. To do this, refer to the latest Windows 2000 Hardware Compatibility List (HCL). Microsoft compiles the HCL through rigorous component and compatibility testing of computers and peripheral hardware to determine if they work well with Windows 2000. For more information about the HCL, see "Additional Resources" at the end of this chapter.
If the hardware you use is not included on the Windows 2000 HCL, contact the hardware manufacturer as a first-line resource for available information, newly tested hardware, and Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) and firmware revisions. Reducing the number of hardware components by removing nonessential peripherals and devices can help you pinpoint installation conflicts as well.

Sounds like the installation file is corrupted in some way. Suggest downloading a new installation file from scratch, which you can download here

Also make sure that you have met the min sys requirements as detailed here

hope this helps

Every time i try to reformat my PC, it would ask the missing 3waredrv.sys to complete the installation. where and how can i download it? or how can i fix my problem. thank you

The file it's looking for is probably a SCSI or SATA driver. If you have a floppy disk with '3Ware' written on it, then at the beginning of the setup you are prompted to press F6 and put the floppy disk in. This drops the 3waredrv.sys file (and others) into the install.

The mouhid.sys file is normally located inthe windows\system32\drivers folder. if its not there the you can get it from the XP disk in the i386 folder. alternativly just copy it from the windows\system32\drivers folder of another PC or laptop.

Press Esc to cancel loading SPTD.sys

You should be able to boot XP from an install CD and perform a repair install (not a complete install) which will not affect your existing files.

You'll need to enter your BIOS and ensure that your PC is set to boot from CD, then restart your PC with the disc in the disc drive. After a period of loading, it will give the option to repair install on the installation screen. Choose that option, then follow the onscreen prompts and allow the install to finish before rebooting (rebooting may be automatic, depending on your version). After repair install, ensure that all updates are current.
