My freezer is freezing food fine but my refrigerator seems to be warm and not cooling like it should. The temp control has been adjusted to a higher setting but does not seem to help.

if your freezer is working your fridge is fine
Your problem probably started a couple weeks ago when the drain that allows defrosted ice (water) to drain into the drain pan at the base of your fridge became plugged for some reason. Then everytime the fridge went on defrost more water melted but did not drain which in turn froze. Now ice has built up and caused the air that flows into the fridge to be blocked, causing a warm fridge.... my advice is to leave fridge unplugged for 48 hrs to thaw it and find the cause of the water not to drain... could be a corn niblet or pea from the freezer... the tube should be visible from the inside or the back

My LG fridge/freezer is approximately 7 years old. It has worked fine until two weeks ago, when I noticed the fridge section wasn't very cold and the freezer only seems to be freezing items on the bottom...

Most of the components are within the fridge unlike the older models and at the bottom of the fridge. It is possible that the fault is related to a thermostat or a auto defrost timer issue.
Since the fridge is not defrosting there is heavy frost that is preventing the fan to blow cold air and cool efficiently .
You will need to check the thermostat, auto defrost timer ,heater to confirm the fault.
Finally the poor pumping of compressor or low gas pressure can also reduce cooling.
check the compressor motor speed, check the capacitor.

GE Profile - Fridge Doesn't Cool But Freezer Works Fine

Had a similar problem with my Kenwood Fridge Freezer
If you're mechanically minded you could check if there's an opening and motorised flap (usually behind a cover) at the top of the fridge - Cold air from the freezer enters the fridge through this flap) The Sound you heard could have been the motor trying to open / close this flap. This flap can become frozen in the closed position - so cold air is unable to enter the fridge compartment) My fix was to thaw it with a hairdryer and reassemble. Another fix would be to empty the freezer and open the doors - it might take more than 24 hours but once completely defrosted if the flap is the issue it will have defrosted. Once plugged in again the door will open and cold air will start to flow into the fridge compartment. I had a quote for €195 for a call out / repair
I fixed it myself in an hour - Hope it works for you ...

Regrigerator stopped, now freezer too.

It is due to the defrost timer is not working. Once it is replaced, you should be good for another year. The information is given by the repairman. I have this replaced two days ago. The MayTag part number is: 61005988.
