If you are getting Incompatible ink cartridge error and These cartridges were replaced a year ago, I think its time you call them once again. ( 1-800-474-6836 ) and report the issue. They will ask you for the Cartridge details like part # and expiry date on the cartridge.
I had a similar problem on a Lexmark T520. Some of the off brand generic (and even a few brand name) toner cartridges have slight changes in design that make them miss, or nearly miss the sensor that indicates they're installed. this is usually a metal or plastic actuator on the top of the front panel door.
You can try putting pressure on the printer at different points on the cover. If this wakes up the printer you can either tape paper on the cartridge to make it the right shape to hit the sensor, or get a cartridge from a different manufacturer.
Could have a corrupt driver. Disconnect
the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do
both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer
to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
