Question about Televison & Video

Sony 3d images and red /blue colour

I'm told my sony KP 48565 has a convergence problem. I have 3d type images and blue/red colours. Is there are way I can adjust this? The repair shop told me I had to take it in to repair. The t.v is in my attic and very heavy to take down 3 flights of stairs (I would also have to remove the railing). Is it worth repairing , I purcahased it in 2000 and expected more than 7 years use out of it.This is a rear projection t.v.

Most of the time the convergence ic's can be replaced in the home.they are usually the 2 large ic's on the left side board mounted to a large heat sink..the ic's will cost between 25 an 50 dollars each.. the job requires soldering skills so you might want to call around to find a tech to come and replace the..also are you sure you don't have a kp 48V65?

Appears out of fcous for the red and green colours with a red and green image surrounding all objects.

Look in menu to see if the set has a convergence adjustment in the menu--if older set and colors are skewed or 3d looking the convergence circuit needs repair---got a model number? If a Sony should begin with KP.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together convergence repair kits for most models.

The kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, etc. Everything you will need to do the repair yourself.
