Was there an installation disc that came with it in the package? Some monitors require software to be used. If you don't have the installation disc, you will most likely find the necessary software on the manufacturer's support site: ProLite Support Driver Download Site.

If the monitor software doesn't solve the problem, try using a different DVI cable. More often than not, these types of problems can be traced back to a faulty cable or port. If the DVI port on the monitor is bad, you will have to use the VGA port as you are now or replace the monitor.

If the DVI port on the video card is bad, you will need to replace it. A good way to test this is if you have another monitor with an available DVI port you can connect to the video card.

Hope this helps! Good luck!

Can i get an adapter for my emachine monitor to go into a dell desktop ...my lead i have now doesnt fit as unable to screw it in

YES.

I believe it is time now for the guessing game............

1) Is the monitor about so high, and so wide?

2) Does the monitor look like a small TV, or is it flat in appearance?

3) What does the monitor cable look like?

4) Is your hair Brown, and do you smoke cigarettes?

NO.............just wanted to see if you were following along! Geez!

An Analog monitor, such as a CRT type of monitor, uses a VGA cable,

http://www.wisegeek.org/what-is-a-crt-monitor.htm

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_Connector

Scroll down a little for a VGA Cable example.

Flat LCD screen monitors are Digital.
Some may have a VGA Cable attached, but the best cable option is a DVI cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface

(Click on any photo on those two Wikipedia pages, to enlarge)

Using these two examples, does one apply to the eMachines, and one apply to the monitor?

Let us say the monitor has a DVI cable.
The eMachines Desktop PC has a VGA port. (Connector)
For this you would simply use a DVI to VGA adapter,

http://www.directron.com/dviadapter.html

Now notice...........this is a VGA MALE to DVI FEMALE.

The DVI cable on the flat LCD screen monitor, has a male connector.
The contact pins of it go into socket holes, in the DVI end, of the DVI to VGA adapter.

The VGA port on the eMachines, has socket holes.
The male VGA connector end on the DVI to VGA adapter, has contact pins.

Point?

Make sure you get the correct DVI to VGA adapter.
There is a male DVI to female VGA adapter, also.

This is just one example.
For instance I'm using an HP 2009M 20-inch widescreen monitor, AND an RCA 26-inch HDTV, as dual monitors.

Presently using the HP 2009M with a DVI cable, and the RCA L26HD31 HDTV with a VGA cable.

(I'm also using an ATI Radeon HD5450 graphics card. Pretty 'pud', but it does OK for what I want)

Primer;
A computer sends out a digital signal. To get the best graphics quality, you ideally use a monitor with a digital cable. (DVI, etc)

When you use an Analog monitor on a computer, the computer has to change the digital signal down to an Analog one.
Therefore the graphics quality is not as great.

Digital cable technology now, is DVI, HDMI, Display Port, and Mini-Display Port. And some others I'm sure I've forgotten.

For additional questions please post in a Comment.

Also post what the monitor manufacturer name, and model number is. (Look on the back)

Are you using the VGA connector on the motherboard, (Back of computer), or do you have a graphics card installed?

If you have a graphics card installed, what is the manufacturer name, and model number?

I have sapphire ati radeon 5570 graphics card. i have aoc 912sw+ 19 inch lcd monitor. how to connect hdmi port of graphics card with monitor?

the HDMI port is for connecting video and sound to a home theatre / surround sound system. I understand that this monitor only has a VGA connector.

The sapphire ati radeon 5570 graphics card has the following ports on the back to connect to a display: DVI (white), VGA (blue) and DisplayPort (the thin slot in the middle). You can use an ordinary VGA cable to connect the card to your monitor.

Unfortunately you cannot connect this card directly to your monitor using the DisplayPort.

Hope this helps

Once i connect my gt5662 to a monitor nothing is on the screen, i know the monitor is in fine condition, i realize the graphics card it came with has 2 different slots, should i buy an adapter an hook the...

Did the computer boot to a monitor before? Is this a new monitor for this computer? The GT5662 came with an ATI Radeon HD2400 PCI-e video card. There is also an onboard VGA port on the back of the computer. The VGA port should be disabled. The ATI Radeon HD2400 PCI-e video card comes with two DVI connectors. With the back of the computer facing you, you would use the one on the right. You would have to have an DVI to VGA adapter to use them unless your monitor has a DVI connector also. Hope this helps. This is what the VGA and DVI connectors look like. _498.jpgmoz-screenshot.png

We have Dell OptiplexGX745 smallform factor desktop computers that we need to run two monitors.

If your Dell Optiplex GX745 came with the ATI Radeon X1300 graphics card, that has One - DVI graphics port, and One - VGA graphics port, it's no problem.

This link shows an ATI Radeon X1300, and the two above mentioned graphics ports,

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5550932&CatId=28

(Please scroll down to the larger photos for more detail.
The Radeon X1300 graphics card in your computer, is a Low Profile graphics card. It will not look exactly like the one shown.

Low Profile means shorter in height. Your graphics card is shorter in height, in order to fit in your SFF computer case. {Small Form Factor}

The longer white connector shown on the left side of the view, is a DVI port. (Technically it's a Dual DVI port)

The shorter blue connector shown on the right side of the view, is the VGA port.

1) If one of your monitors has a DVI connector plug, simply plug it into the DVI port.
If the other monitor also has a DVI connector plug, you will need an adapter to plug it into the VGA port.

2) If both of your monitors have a VGA connector plug, one will plug into the VGA port on the graphics card.
The other will need an adapter to plug into the DVI port, on the graphics card.

This link shows an adapter for connecting a monitor with a DVI connector, to the VGA port on a graphics card,

http://www.directron.com/dviadapter.html

The adapter to connect a monitor with a VGA connector, to a DVI port on the graphics card is opposite of this.
[ I have found them at Radio Shack.
This = Expensive! $14.99
Not advertising for Radio Shack, or the above website in the link]

NOTE*
Use care when selecting the adapter you need.

A monitor with a VGA cable connector has the Male pins.
Your adapter must have the VGA Female sockets.
The DVI side of the adapter must have the Male pins.
It goes into the Female socket holes on the graphics card.

Same with a monitor that has a DVI cable connector.
The adapter must have Female DVI socket holes.
The other side will have Male VGA pins.

If your ATI Radeon X1300 only has One - graphics port, I Do Not advise using a splitter.
This is an adapter cable that has a connector on one end, and splits into two cables.

The graphics quality will be poor.

If you have No graphics card the situation is worse. This is Onboard, or Integrated Graphics.
(OnBoard. On the motherboard)

Using a splitter cable will result in very poor graphics.

How to tell if your Optiplex GX745 only has Integrated Graphics?
Look at the back of the computer. Come down from the audio ports. (Green and Blue)

Look under the USB ports.
The Blue VGA port is the Integrated Graphics port.

If you have an ATI Radeon X1300 graphics card, you will see a blue VGA port in an adjacent slot, also.

(Your computer can have Integrated Graphics, and a graphics card.
You CANNOT use the Integrated Graphics port, and a graphics port on a graphics card, At The Same Time!
It will Not work)

Once the two monitors are attached.

1) Turn both monitors on.
2) Turn the computer on, let Windows load

3) After Windows has loaded, Right-click on any empty area of the desktop screen.

4) Go to the bottom of the drop down menu, and Left-click on Properties

5) There are tabs across the top. Left-click on the
Settings tab.

6) You will see two rectangular icons. These icons represent monitors.

The one on the left side with the white border around it, is your Primary monitor. The main monitor you have always had.

The grayed out icon on the right side represents a Secondary monitor. This is for the second monitor you plugged in.

Note how the two monitor icons are sitting.
Primary on the left, Secondary on the right.
This is how your monitors should be sitting.

If it is Not, left-click on the Secondary monitor icon. Hold the left mouse button down, and drag it over to the left.

Now scroll down this window with your eyes.
Under the resolution settings you will see -

Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor

There is a square box to the left of it.

Left-click in the square box. Go below to the right, and left-click on Apply.
Now go to the left, and click on OK.

Your monitors will now both be showing your desktop screen.

[Note* When doing this procedure, you have clicked on the Secondary monitor icon. Clicking on the icon activates it]

When you open the internet, or have a program going.
Go to the right side of the screen to the blue border,
of the Primary monitor.

When the mouse cursor turns into a double-headed arrow, hold the left mouse button down, and drag the screen to the right.

(You will note that the mouse cursor changes quite easily. It has to be double-headed in order for this to work)

If this direction does not work, go to the left side of the screen, drag to the left.

(You have to drag in the direction your monitors are actually sitting, in relation to each other)

Ati radeon X300 SE how to get both monitors working at the same time. Windows XP screen settings and ATI Catalyst Control Center can see only one at a time, but not both...

Use the DVI port, and the VGA port on the ATI Radeon X300SE graphics card.

If you have two monitors that are LCD, and they both have a DVI connector, use a DVI to VGA adapter for the VGA port on the ATI Radeon X300SE.

[You need a Female DVI to Male VGA adapter, such as this example,

http://www.directron.com/dviadapter.html

Turn both monitors on. Right-click on an empty spot on the desktop screen. Left-click on Properties, then the Settings tab.
Left-click on the monitor icon with the 2 in it.
Go down to ->Extend my desktop to this monitor, and left-click in the box to the left of it.

Go down to the right, and left-click on Apply.
Now go over to the left, and left-click on OK.

You should now have your desktop screen on both monitors. When you open a window on your Primary monitor, (Monitor icon 1), Left-click on the frame, hold the mouse button down, and drag this screen to the Secondary monitor.

If it doesn't work this way, drag to the other side.

Viewsonic vp912b lcd display will not work.no DVI

Yes you can but there should be an option in the monitor settings for DVI... Maybe if you go into safe mode and attempt adjusting settings for the ati for the dvi output, from what I hear that monitor is nice with the DVI option would be aa shame to lose that.

Computer won't recognize monitor driver

Its the usb, if u connect the monitor via the standard port, the vga port, it will work. If your monitor only have an dvi cable you can fix that by an adapter. That adapter should be an DVI to VGA.

Good luck to you

Ati mobility radeon 9000 agp

hi camperd55,

I believe you have the right adapter cable. According to my knowledge the Radeon 9000 supports TV output via RCA (check http://ati.amd.com/products/MobilityRadeon9000/index.html:" Mobility™ Radeon™ 9000 provides the highest quality output support for DVI-I, TV and CRTs.")

Firstly, it would be a good idea to make sure your TV has the 3 RCA jacks into which you will insert the adapter cable's 3 RCA connectors according to the colors of the connectors and jacks.

Secondly, if your laptop has a VGA port, you're set to connect your laptop to your TV, no hustles. If your laptop doesn't have a VGA port, your going to have to get a DVI-VGA converter, so you're setup will be something like: [laptop]-[DVI-VGA converter]-[VGA-3RCA adapter cable]-[TV's 3RCA jacks].

When you get your laptop's screen displaying on your TV, its merely a matter of using your recording equipment to record the TV's image as you would any program showing on the TV.

I hope this will help you solve your problem, thank you for using the FixYa service.

Kind regards
Henru : )
