Question about JVC GR-D22U Camcorder
Apparently this same problem exists on many different models. I have a JVC grd72u. I called JVC @ 800-252-5722. I selected the "Corrective Action Program" prompt from the automated attendent. I spoke to a customer service rep. They are aware of the problem and are fixing it for free, but only until 12/31/07. I suggest you call ASAP and get your name in the computer. If the problem is something besides the CCD sensor, they will call you with the estimate to repair.

Same problem with my camcorder. Tells me my lens cap is still on. Let me tell you I wasn't a happy person. Came X-mas eve and no camera. When you have a toddler you would like to film her Christmas, guess not this year. I have had it three years and have used it four times. I'm not happy at all.

Have already posted this on other ones.
I have the same problem, and have had it for a while, it comes and goes. No solution, sorry, I have tried for months.

Ok, not sure why I didn't try all options in the camera before, but someone else inspired me to do it.
Please let me know if this works for all of you.
Turn your camera on, remove the lens cap (of course), place the camcorder in auto or manual mode, select the menu, go to the green 'a' selection and select the 'gain up' choice, then select the 'auto' selection.
My camcorder just started working straight away, hope it helps you.
