You must use a 'lighter' meaning lower viscosity oil.

How do I replace the bottom oven element in a CDA CD 907 double oven

ISOLATE MAINS POWER BEFORE WORKING ON THIS APPLIANCE
Remove the back of the oven check temp controller before replacing or buying element, as this can often stop any heat being produced. The element is in front of the fan, if this model is fan assisted, remove fan, after removing element inspect to see any small hole in metal, if you see a large hole more than 10mm , this could be a sign that the fan needs cleaning. Clean fan with WD40, do not switch oven on untill fan has dried off. Then replace element, switch oven on low with door open, if you feel slight heat, go for a full test, gradually build up heat, keep on for at least 30 mins, make sure the oven reaches temp, you can expect some smell from a new element, this is protective oil, and considered normal.

My zanussi FM9232 fan assisted oven is not heating up, the fan is working

Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Zanussi manual.
If you're Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Fan assisted oven not heating to correct temp

Assuming the fan is working, then are a couple of possibilities.
1- the oven element is not working.
2-the themostat or regulator is not controlling the temperature properly.
If you put your hand in front of the blower fan, you should feel hot air blowing, if you can't, then it is probably the oven element that has failed.
This is located at the rear of the oven compartment behind a removeable cover.
Hope this helps.

Fan but no heat

This tutorial will show you how to check your Smeg element and how to replace your Smeg cooker element.
Here are the 3 main faults to look for in your oven or cooker that is not heating
  1. Your oven will not work until the clock/timer has been re-set after replacing an oven element or tripping the electrical supply. Consult your Smeg manual.
  2. If you're Oven is not getting hot or heating up it could be a faulty element, if the fan in the oven is running and the thermostat light is on, this will lead us to believe that the element has gone faulty. With grills the thermostat light should come on there should be heat, if not then this could be the grill element or the thermostat.
  3. When you turn the oven on, the household electrical supply trips on the Rcd (this is the earth trip in the fuse board sometimes called the breaker tripping) your fan oven element has gone to earth and needs replacing.

Seems to be taking a long time to cook

To preheat oven just select the temp you intend to cook at and wait until the red light goes out,it is then preheated
Then you can put your food in and carrying on cooking.
Yes you do put it on fan symbol, but make sure it is on the right one , as some ovens have fan only as well as fan and heat.
Plz rate this solution.
thanks.

Hotpoint bottom oven

Cooking is determined by 3 things so let's look at what they are and what they do.

They are:

  1. The Fan Oven Element - This is very much the same as a light bulb only instead of giving off light it gives off heat. Like a light that is switched On or Off by a wall switch, the Element is switched On or Off by a Thermostat according to the temperature required. In short if the element fails your oven will be cold.
  2. The Fan & Motor - This sucks the air in through the centre mesh and circulates it around the Element and pushes the heated air out of the top, bottom and sides of the back-plate. Fan ovens cannot heat properly if the fan is not running OR if the fan runs too slowly as the motor starts to fail.
  3. The Thermostat. - This is basically an On/Off Switch that responds to the temperature in the oven. If The Fan is running correctly and you are achieving some temperature in the oven, then the fault will be with the Thermostat.
I hope this Helps - Terry
