the laptop is only 2 years old and I barely used it. I replaced the keyboard. but it didn't help . Just as long as I don't turn on the sound it works fine, It will type . I installed windows vista but I took it off. I'm not sure how long ago it started

Your HDD may be the problem, but not one that I would attribute to this noise. It sounds like based on the information I have been given you may have some device issues steming from your keyboard. You may want to consider replacing that! This is only speculation. I need more information, like when did it start, how long, did you install anything different on it? Basic questions like that! Let me know!

HP DV 1000

1) plug YOUR power adapter into your friends hp dv1000, see if it turns on laptop.on. If yes, then u have one less problem.
2) to trouble shoot a laptop takes a lot of skill, stuff is very small, things could be damaged just by pulling the wrong way. you would HAVE TO BE very carefull.
Look for the trouble shooting manual 1st. or find a good technical person.
