Remove and Check Color Cartridge

The Remove and Check Color Cartridge error appeared on my printer a few days ago. I have done anything and everything to get it to work but nothing has worked yet. I have sent an email into HP support but have received no response yet. I see on other blogs where people have had the same issue. Does anyone have any information out there that can help??

I was notified that my tricolor cartridge was low. I managed (after about two hours of tinkering) to remove the old cartridge. Now I am unable to "just slide the new cartridge in". It is a #97 cartridge but it simply wont go in ! There must be a trick to it ! No where is there a set of instructions (nor any human being) that gives explicit instructions on "how to". I'd like to change the black cartidge also but am afraid to at this point.

I'm having the same "Remove and Check Color Cartridge" error with my hp 7310xi. I've tried two different ink cartridges, so I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the printer.

Printer is approx. 2 yrs old We rarely use the color print cartridge, We tried to print with colour and received a message "Remove and check color cartridge." I replaced the cartridge the message continues to appear. Very disappointed that others have the same error. I thought HP had a reputation for excellance?

Last night I spent an hour with HP Technician on-line trying to diagnose the problem with my 2 year old HP Officejet 7210 All-In-One. After trying everything HP came up to resolve the problem, the technician determined it is a hard failure in the electronics hardware. Since my warranty is expired they offered me a deal on the L7680 All-In-One. My 7210 was very lightly used (still on first set of cartridges). If this is the quality of the latest generation of HP hardware, I am probably going to look at something else.

We also had the same problem. We remove the black cartridge, placed a small machine screw or bolt where the head would hold the spring in place. Make sure the head is flat enough so that it will not push the cartridge to the left and cause it to print erratic. You might need small hands to screw on the nut for your bolt. I now prints and faxes, just the LED panel still says to check the right cartridge.
We can live with that!!

Hi,

When this error appears in your printer check if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel is with the cartridge. To fix this issue use the Kleenex(perfume ) added with few drops of water to dampen it and clean off those contact on the holder. You should let the unit sit 24 hours for best results. Before printing anything run aligned thecartridgesa couple times then run clean cartridges a couple of times. Print the test page to look for the condition.

Thank you !!

The following error message appears on the color graphics display after you insert a cartridge: Remove and Check Print Cartridges . The printer will not print. The message does not specify which cartridge has caused the error. Solution This error message indicates that the printer cannot determine which cartridge is causing the error. Follow the steps below to solve the problem.
  1. Remove the color cartridge from the left stall (which has a blue latch) and refasten the latch. Leave the other cartridge in place.
  2. Close the printer, wait 10 to 15 seconds, then look at the LCD display.
    • If the LCD display reads Insert Color Cartridge in Left Stall , the color cartridge may be causing the problem. Follow the steps below:
      1. Clean the color cartridge contacts.
      2. Reinsert the color cartridge into the carriage and close the blue latch.
      3. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
      4. If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the color cartridge.
    OR
    • If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , follow the steps below:
      1. Reinsert the color cartridge.
      2. Remove the black or photo cartridge, depending on which one is installed in the right stall. The right stall has the gray latch. Be sure to refasten the latch on the empty stall.
      3. Clean the black or photo cartridge contacts.
      4. Reinsert the black or photo cartridge.
      5. Close the printer and wait 10 to 15 seconds.
      6. If the LCD display reads Remove and Check Print Cartridges , replace the black or photo cartridge.

  1. Remove and then reinsert the cartridge indicated in the error message.
  2. If the error is still displayed, clean the contacts.
    1. If the error message is Error. Remove and Check Black or Photo Cartridge , the following steps may help:
    1. Remove both cartridges, lower the latches, and close the printer access door.
    2. Turn off the unit by pressing the On button on the front panel. Wait for the printer to completely shut down.
    3. Turn the printer back on by pressing the On button.
    4. When the message display reads Insert Print Cartridges , open the access door and replace the cartridges.
    1. If neither of the steps above fixed the problem, either the cartridge or the printer is faulty

Hp 1610 says remove and check color cartridge, I did everything, checked cartridge, cleaned, powered down etc. Still says check... nothing works, it's not that old either

-If you have old empty cartridge, try to put it on and see if the error get out. the cartridge has a circuit that gets bad and then the printer shows the error.
-Even if it has ink the printer will get the error.
if the message goes out after you install an old cartridge, means you need to replace the bad one.

    Turning off the color cartridge

I have been fighting the same annoying issue for several hours this evening. I even used HP Live Chat and was told I needed to buy new cartridges. I'm not satisfied with that answer of course. Out of nothing more than a whim I told my puter to print a txt document I had open at the time...IT DID...with the red error light flashing and a color cartridge error on my display panel.

This was just a few minutes ago so I have no further info to offer. I look forward to seeing what others have to day regarding this issue.
