Major feedback hum from speakers

I am getting major feedback from my speakers, only when I use the turntable. I cannot make cd's as the feedback is also being recorded to the cd. I have search the web over and haven't found a solution. I purchased a line conditioner/surge protector and that doesn't help. Someone with the same problem and fixed it, please let me know how you solved it

    Thanks Palaboy,
    To avoid confusion, the annoying sound is hum, not feedback. My turntable is a PS-LX300USB, not the 250. The setup instructions do not mention anything about a ground.
    Product Features
    * Belt drive system; fully automatic operation
    * Supports 33-1/3 and 45 rpm record playback speeds
    * Built-in phono preamp; EQ switch for devices without a phono input
    * USB output and included Audio Studio software let you import record tracks to a PC in MP3 audio format; L/R RCA audio output
    * Signal-to-noise ratio: >50dB
    * Includes dust cover

    Your solution sounds like it should work, but I cannot find a grounding point on the turntable, the bottom is plastic, should I attach a ground wire to one of the adjustable feet screws? And the feedback only occurs when the amp is set to phono, even when I am not playing an album. When I touch the turntable arm the hum gets louder, even louder when I touch it with more pressure. I made an on line request to Sony's parts website for bran/model of cartridge. Would you be so kind in some more of your professional assistance? Thank you palaboy in advance. John

The reason for the hum is as follows:

1) The phono input on the receiver contains an additional stage of amplification required for typical turntables.
2) Pluggin in a unit that has a signal level too high will generate this hum.
3) Your turntable contains an pre-amp that allows it to work using an aux input (or tape input) as most receivers today no longer have phono inputs.
4) Grounding issues relate to the older types of turntables where there was NO pre-amp stage inside the turntable. In this case ,the signal levels were so low that stray noise would often get in the way of the signal. Proper grounding would elimiate this noise.

Hope this helps.

Dan

Proletrix USB turntable not grounded

Newer turntables don’t use ground wires. A ground wire will not illuminate feedback. Feedback is caused by vibration and a ground wire would not solve the problem. The turntable maybe too close to the speaker. Sometimes an open dust cover on a turntable will cause feedback.

WHY DO I GET LOAD FEEDBACK WHEN I PLUG TURNTABLE INTO RECEIVER?

it may not be feedbacl, but ground hum. make sure the turntable is grounded. the turntable should have a ground wire with one end stripped. Bend the stripped, bare wire into a u shape and hook it around the ground screw of your receiver and tighten it down. If your turntable is already grounded, it may be feedback. you may have speakers too close to the TT or your volume is too high

I have a JVC turntable and an old Sansui reciever. Last night I was playing a record, and it stopped playing out of one speaker, and makes a loud buzzing noise. However, when I push the Mono button

You should check the connections to the turntable, it sounds like it might be feedback hum, caused by a wire touching or something like that. Don't forget to check the connections to the cartridge too.

Buzz....hum problem from turntable....

Did you ground the turntable? Most of them have a ground wire located somewhere that connects to a screw on your electrical outlet. You could be getting hum from your pre-amp if it is a low quality one. Try unhooking the pre-amp, if that is the problem you won't hear the hum. If the turntable ground is the problem you won't hear music with no pre-amp but you will still hear the hum.

Have a B&O RX-2 with mcc4 and loud hum

Possibly check the wires on the cartridge, make sure none of them are touching and are not bent to badly, are all the connections tight? some cartridges require plastic sleeves over the connections, this insure they don't touch and
avoids resistances between them. Also some cartridges are not compatible with certain model turn tables.Is it universal? Also you my need a mixer most turntables don't work with amps alone. Mine don't. Usually most models you attach the ground wire to the mixer. A mixer boosts table power and take stress off the amp. Hope this helped! good luck!
