Error 13.20.00 on HP laserjet 5200
' jam inside top cover' on startup
Have checked and removed registration sensor (tof) and assembly and have checked fuser entry sensor both look OK.
client reported 2 x sheets of paper under cartridge jammed up. unable to locate any other sensors in cartridge area.
Have removed the fuser - looks OK
Any suggestions welcome
This is a common issue and most times a bear to repair. There is a
sensor flag mounted on the paper feed assembly behind tray 1 which has
a habit of either coming off or the spring which moves it back a forth
comes out of its holder. In any case it is one of the worst repairs you
have to do. Many items have to come off to get to it and getting that
flag and spring on correctly even with the instructions is difficult.
Usually what will happen is you get the 13.20.00 error on power up with
no motor movement and when you open and close the top cover, the motor
will move but the same error reappears. If you are lucky it is just a
case of a shred of paper blocking the sensor flag from moving and worst
case of the flag having come off. You will need the service manual and
check the removal and replacment section on the paper feed assembly and
play close attention to the 3rd page.
sometimes this error also appears if a wrong fuser is installed in ur printer that is not ur model number.... have it checked
thank you
have a nice day

ok in that case as a last resort Here is something you could try . Get a manilla folder (or a piece of cardstock) and cut off a piece 3-4 inches wide, and about 10 inches long. Pull out tray 2 (the drawer) and look up in there towards the front. There will be a slot where the paper would go up through, if it could. Try to slide your new tool (the folder) through this slot. If you pull out the toner, and lift the metal flap beneath it, you should be able to see your folder. If you cannot push it all the way through, than you have the jam that we are talking about.
if thats the case and if ur unable to find the reason for the jam... i would recommend you to contact HP at this point
good luck

Thanks for the quick reply - I have just removed the paper-feed assembly and the sensor actuator seems fine, and the spring mechanism is OK the registration assembly is removed also and I can see the actuator for the registration sensor - all good.
Is there another sensor that I'm missing that could cause this 13.20.00 jam inside top cover error?
cheers
