Poor quality suddenly

The sound quality is really bad unless I press down on the cord that goes into the jack. Any idea what's going on ?

  • speedd8 Aug 10, 2009

It appears to be in the jack. The quality is depleted no matter what plug I put it in. I noticed that the quality is back to normal if I press down on the rubber section of the chord that goes into the jack. I temporarily fixed it by tying a rubber band tightly around the jack and rubber section so that the rubber is bent.

You got a loose connection there...try to find the source of the problem - is it in the plug or the jack?

When install a battery the mic stats but goes off before battery fully installed

The battery has to generate quite a bit of power to energise the plates in a condenser mic. So wasting energy by powering an LED when it's not really needed is a bad idea. The light 'blinks' to confirm that you switched it properly. After that, it will only blink again when you move the power switch to OFF unless there's some battery warning indication built in.

As for the mic not working; most of the time this is down to poor quality or broken cables; or incorrect connections; or the wrong settings on the receiver or mixing console.

I have a marshall mg100hdfx head. it was working fine and I turned it on it started screaming like feedback at full volume. it does this with all volume at zero and without anything plugged in the inp

This could be many things and unless you are electronically adept it is unlikely you can DIY the repair... HOWEVER I want you to try one thing first: Sometimes the contacts on the switches of the Effects send and return go bad leaving the input to the power amp section floating and it can feedback. To test this, plug an INSTRUMENT cable between the send and return effects jacks on the back. This bypasses the contacts, If the amp behaves, you could run it this way getting a short cable or have the amp worked on at a shop to replace the jack. The jacks are really rather poor quality on musical amps in general.

I have a MG50DFX and a MG15DFX, both amps head phone inputs don't work anymore. When plug in the headphone the speaker won't silence.

This is likely a bad switch contact in the headphone jack... they are really poor quality in most amps... plastic case and EASILY damaged by side forces on the jack. REplacement is the solution.

My Video ipod has poor quality sound. Kinda lacks bass.

If you've messed with the EQ settings and it still sounds horrible you may want to have the jack/hold switch assembly replaced. You can get a jack/hold switch assembly on eBay for around $7 for your model of iPod.

Just bought a toshiba 42av635db and the picture is very grainy, any ideas?

Dear shaunamlynch,
Try to adjust your display properties and choose the color depth mode by sliding it up or down and choose the best color mode (Better to set the on the TRUE COLOR (Highest)). Apply and reboot!

Good Luck!

Amp powers up,all tubes lightup, can hear reverb when you gently shake it, plug a cord into poweramp in and you can hear sound when touching the other end of the cord, but when you plug into the inputs no...

Bridge the preamp out to the power amp in with a short cable while suppling signal to the input..

IF that works, the switch on the power amp input jack is bad. You can try increasing the spring tension, but frankly these jack are poor quality

You could run it that way with a short cable or open the unit to do the repair.

I crashed on my bike and now I have colored lines on screen of rumour but if I press back I can see a few things. Still texts and phones, any idea how to fix screen?

It sounds like a problem with the wiring connections to the screen. LG's are really bad for poor quality connections with screens. You could pop it open and take a look at the connection between the screen and the motherboard to check to see if there is any visible damage, but its not really a user-friendly repair. With the cost of phones, in the long run, replacement is the best option (unless covered by warranty, in which case, opening the phone would void the warranty).

Won't down load

Just use a memory card and a generic USB memory card reader. The cord system is a bad idea for any camera.

Bose Lifestyle 12 System bad sound

you can buy a new cord from bose or any palce such as radio shack etc where equivalent connections can be made up to suit with no difficulty.

as for opening the bass box, i recommend not doing this unless it is absolutley the last resort.
the sound will never be the same again and you will end up with a really bad repair that looks bad and sounds bad too.

however if you are determined to do this, let me know firts and i'll tell you how to do it correctly and professionally and very simply indeed. but when youve done this will you know what your are looking at as unless you are an electronics guru with loads of time tools and equipment and hours of time to go to radio shack (again) are you really up to serviceing those not serviceable parts on circuit boards ?

by the tone of you question i think you know already its the cords , go and obtain original replacements from bose or after marklet iones from the internet or get them made to suit locally at any half decent electronics shop.

, good luck
