The oil ratio is not adjusted to the engine it is the formulation of the oil. You mix your oil the way the bottle states. I have been working on 2 cycle engines since the 70's at a motorcycle, ATV and lawn & garden dealership. If you have doubts about a 50:1 oil do like I do and put 8/10ths of a gallon of gas in you jug and use a bottle of oil for a gallon and mix.

From the factory, when everything was new, the Hi and Lo screws were 1 1/4 turns out. As things wear and as fuel forms deposits in the carb, you may have to adjust the screws out further. Usually Lo gets stopped up a little first. Lo side adjustment effects how the engine goes from idle to upper speeds. Hi side only effects the engine at wide open throttle. If you have to go more than 2 1/2 turns out on either screw, then a carb overhaul or replacement is in order.
Good luck!

You are safe running a 40:1 ratio. 8oz. of oil to 2.5 gallons of fuel.

Fuel to oil ration for homelite htc12

good question . most modern 2 cycles run either 40 to 1 or 50 to 1 ratios.fuel air mixtures must stay on the rich side of the power band to allow a small amount of un burned fuel to flow past the exhaust vaves and provide a cooling effect.A too rich oil gas ratio is harder on the ignition coil and might pound it out. however a too lean , not enough oil situation will scoure the cilinder walls result in sticking rings bearing faluire ect. so i would go with 40 to 1

Why Tiller cranks but will not run when you need it to till?

If you don't have a manual, could can read/download it at this link.
If the engine stalls under load, the mixture may be too lean. There should be a mixture screw on the carburetor. Note its position, and turn it counter-clockwise 1/8 of a turn to see if there is any improvement in engine performance. Repeat this but don't exceed about a half turn.
The tank has a vent and this should be kept vertical under the cylinder cover in the small "pocket" in the cylinder cover.
Lack of power can be caused by a dirty air filter or blocked muffler screen.

Fuel line diagram for sears mini cultivator

hello sir, routing fuel line for craftsman, homelite, ryobi, hedge and line trimmers, fuel tank under engine, looking at machine from rear, shall fuel line on left with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, fuel line from right side coming out of tank with inside tip attached goes to bottom port of primmer bulb, top line on primmer bulb goes to top port of carb, fuel tank under engine, fuel line routing, looking at machine from left side, left fuel line coming out of tank(drain back only) goes to right side small port of primmer bulb, left side larger fuel line from primmer bulb to top port of carb, fuel line coming out of tank (larger line) on the right side with filter attached goes to bottom port of carb, when replacing fuel line it is very important to use the same ID and OD line the homelite takes a special line that is black in color and a bigger size, the bigger line is ID .08-OD140 small line ID3/32 X 3/16.when the lines dissolve small pieces will get in the carb clogging small passages and screen,it is advisable that you clean out carb, and use a new filter.hope this helps, any comments welcome, thank you. if the filter has broken off of the line half way that is where you will run out of fuel, ``

Forgot to drain the gas last fall and found it had small amount of water in the tank. Drained it out and cleaned the fuel filter, cleaned the carb out and now it starts, but runs only if the choke is on.

I would recommend replacing the fuel filter and spark plug. If this is a 2-cycle engine be sure you are using fresh gas with the proper oil mixture. If your engine has a fuel primer bulb be sure to push it several times until you feel resistance before starting and make sure there are no fuel leaks. Failing that you may need to adjust the carb fuel mixture screws after the engine runs long enough to warm up (1-2 minutes). Check your owners manual for other troubleshooting procedures. Good luck.

the Honda FG100 is a 4-cycle engine do NOT mix oil with the gas, - you will cause damage to the engine (head, valves, piston rings etc) not to mention if will not run well.

Engine will start but won't stay running i have replaced fuel lines but don't know if i have them hooked up correctly

The top of the carburetor is where the fuel line with filter out of the tank goes. The other line on the bottom of the carburetor is the return line it goes back into the tank. Of course your fuel mixture may be old. Anything over 30 days now is being considered bad fuel. You may need to mix up some fresh fuel mixture and try it.
Good day.
