Fridge is leaking water from inside somewhere one plug is missing from the back wall after it was cleaned so water forms in the bottom then leaks out onto the floor

Unplug sooooooon to prevent damage to coils!!! Remove plastic wall. Melt ice totally with hair dryer. See defrost heater at bottom of coils. If good it will read 50 to 200 ohms. If bad it will read infinite ohms. If my guessing is right, it will read bad and will need changing, along with the small clip-on thermostat that sits at or above the top of your coils. Parts will cost you $50 to $100 on the Net, and you'll spend 2 hours max.

with out knowing name brand an model# i would say it sounds like there is a drain tube missing from the upper patr or freezwr area to the drain hole at the rear bottom . there is a drain pan under the refridge which catches this water then it evarperates. it also cab that the proper drain is pluged or blocked with algie which is comon try a little bleach to clean out the drain area

the defrost drain pan is plugged up,you need to defrost it and run a wire down the drain tray hole so it can drain to the bottom as it defrosts otherwise it defrosts and runs everywhere else and re freezes

Something to try....on the back wall of the fridge nearer to the top is a little cup like part sticking out. There is water in it but it usually runs down an attached tube inside back wall and ends up under the fridge and gets evaporated. If that tube or the little cup thing is plugged then it will drip in the fridge and collect on the inside bottom of the fridge. So the trick is to clean them out. Check it out ...may solve the problem.

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hose inside the walls now. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cup inside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the only access is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporator coils.

Without seeing your refrigerator I can only imagine that you have a drain pan leak below refrigerator, defrost condensate drain line loose or missing the drain pan, frozen over drain opening inside rear wall of freezer or the defrost condensate line is blocked somewhere along its route to the condensate collection tray below refrigerator.

I have written a few steps for you to follow and try ok?

1. Manufacturers have different ways to dispose of the water created during automatic defrost cycles. The most common design routes the water down a rubber tube on the back of the fridge to a tray beneath. This tube often gets plugged with breadcrumbs, peas etc. and can generally easily be removed and cleaned.
2. Make sure the end of the hose is sitting in the defrost tray.
3. If your hose was not plugged and you have found water running down the back wall inside the fridge or a pool under the bottom crisper has formed. Check if there is a small funnel located on the back wall near the top inside the fridge. It can also get plugged; you can use a small wire and work it in and out of the hole.
4. Some designs do run the water down the back wall and have a drain hole under the crisper, make sure it is not plugged.

Unclogh the drain hole inside the freezer in the bottom of the bakc wall pouring hot water until the ice melted and keep pouring until goes through.Repet this every 3 or 4 months to keep it clear.

my GE side by side fridge leaks water from the bottom only when I connet the water filter inside the fridge. The leak stops when I remove the water filter. What could be causing this?
