My t.v. is just over a year old and it's started making a funny vibrating noise where the lamp is? Do you know if that means I need a new lamp? It does say in the manual that when it does start to go the tv will make a funny noise? T.v. is a 50" Sony Bravia LCD rear projection. Lamp is and xl-2400. I know the tv first part of the model is - kdf

It is most likely a fan (there are 2 to 3 of them in the set) that is making the noise. I doubt seriously that the lamp is causing a buzzing noise. The only other buzzing sound can come from the ballast wich powers the lamp.

If the model is not listed correctly let me know with the make a comment button on this page---KDL-40S2400 IS A LCD SET---usually on that model on turn on you may hear a high pitched buzz which is a issue with something on the power board making a sound---
unfortunatly, horizontal lines on an lcd tv, almost always mean a bad lcd panel. if it is out of warranty, it will be really cost prohibitive to replace the panel. if the set is only a year old or so call sony customer support and ask for a concession for the part.
If the seet is not powering up then the noise can be the fan or the power supply . If the lamp is not working then it can be a possible fault of the lamp or the power supply straining due to a load or shorted lamp and not starting up
No,this tv a LCD not a DLP.The LCD inverter board is dead.Must replaced to get picture back. The board is usally a long board.Tries Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy the board.
I have the same tv with the same problem. My tv is about 3 1/2 years old. I took it to the shop yesterday and today they told me that I had a bad lcd panel and a bad FL1 circuit board. They also told me it was going to be $3800.00 dollars to fix. I am now on my way to buy another tv, needless to say it will not be a Sony. Sony knows about this problem and refuse to do anything about it. Good luck.
what model of Sony is it? On many of the Sony projectors, a 3 flash error code indicates the lamp is not properly seated/installed or the lamp door is not closed properly
