I had lowes cut a 4x8ft piece of 1/8 in thick of masonite to 2ft x 7ft ( the length of 2 of my couches. Dirt cheap. I put them on the couch when we leave. Store in a closet when home. When we left, the dog would get comfortable by crushing the pillows and getting dog hair all over the pillows. Extends the life of the couch.
On the front of the dirt dog there are 4 "Cliff Sensors" which tell it to back up or turn when it "Sees" steps. Clean these with a Q tip. If that doesnt work, go through the "Diagnostic" procedure listed here....http://www.robotreviews.com/chat/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=10821&start=0
Generally the unit will beep or play the "uh-oh" tone or do something. I wish I could tell you what's going on with this Dirt Dog, but it's not communicating the problem. The best thing to do would be to give us a call when you have the robot with you. That will enable us to do any necessary troubleshooting as well as set up any orders that might be necessary.
