SOURCE: Feed dogs

It probably needs gears replaced or has a loose gear. Unfortunately you need to take it in to a repair shop. (I am assuming that you are not in button hole or have the stitch length set to zero).
good luck!

SOURCE: feed dogs dont move fabric thur

Have you changed the stitch length selector to zero ? If there is no lint trapped under the needle plate between the feed teeth, then the length selector is likely set too small,.

When you set the switch for the feed dogs to be in the up position, turn the handwheel 1 complete revolution and they should come up.

Open the throat plate and bobbin area to see if thread has tangled there. Snip and remove thread with tweezers - do not yank or **** and tangles out of the machine.

SOURCE: Can't free motion quilt on Juki-T98QE

You need to be using a free motion foot or a darning foot, the regular presser foot is not for free motion.

My Elna 6000: the needle does not want to move forward or backwards

The needle never moves forward/back on its own for most sewing machines. The needle bar goes up and down. The fabric moves due to the action of the feed dogs. First remove the fabric from under the presser foot. Check for tangled thread wrapped around the feed dogs or fabric/thread going down into the bobbin area in a tangle. Next check if the feed dogs are up. (When the feed dogs are down or covered (on some machines), the machine is in darning mode. The fabric will only move if you move it yourself.) With the fabric out of the way, rotate the hand wheel and check if the feed dogs are moving. Open up the bobbin compartment and clean out any lint, thread or other debris that may be tangling the mechanism. Take off the throat plate and check the feed dogs. A damaged throat plate can stop the feed dogs from moving properly. You may need to replace the throat plate.

For some machines, you may need to make sure that the unit is not in bobbin wind mode. This is usually obvious since the needle bar won't move either.

I hope this helps.

The feed dog is up but has stopped feeding

Are the feed dogs moving at all--like moving toward the back of the machine, dropping down below the needle plate, moving forward, rising, and then moving toward the back of the machine? Make sure the stitch length is set high enough to actually move the fabric--not set at zero or near zero. If the feed dogs stay below the needle plate, then most likely they have been dropped for darning.
If the feed dogs are frozen, not moving, and it is an older mechanical machine, they may be seized due to old oil.

Wheel on right side that controls the needle up and down is very tight...

Or, the feed dog mechanism is broken.

Janome 109/110 which hasn't been well looked after!Cleaned, oiled etc and sewing fine now but feed dog lever won't move to drop dogs for FMQ. Any suggestions? Thank you

Most likely the feed dog mechanism was not lubed enough to overcome the old oil that has turned to glue. It is very common for mechanical machines not well maintained over years to have the feed dogs seize. Use liquid Tri-Flow Synthetic Lube (hardware store or bike shop). Get access to the area around the feed dogs (either from underneath if it is a flat-bed machine or via the free arm). Gently wiggle the handwheel and watch where the feed dog mechanism moves. Apply a couple drops every place that metal rubs on metal. Move the feed-dog drop lever and apply a couple drops where metal parts rub there too. Direct hot air from a handheld hairdryer into the internal mechanism, focusing on the feed dogs and the feed dog lever. You may need to alternate the lube and hot air several times until it begins to move freely. Repeat until things move well.

I've used this method on several older machines and it has always worked, although some machines take more work and time than others.

Material won't move? How to adjust feed dog if that is the problem

Is the feed dog raised into sewing position and not dropped as for darning? Feed dogs need to be in the raised position in order to pull the fabric through the machine.

If the stitch length is set too short, it will cause the fabric to barely move thereby causing the machine to stitch in one place.

Raise your presser foot and gently rotate the handwheel and watch the feed dogs. Do they rise when coming to the front of the machine, move toward the back of the machine, drop down below the needle plate, and move forward to the front of the machine again? If so, the feed dogs are working properly.

If the feed dogs never rise, they are in the dropped position for darning or free motion quilting when you would move the fabric manually.

If, on the other hand, the feed dogs do not move at all, then they are seized and you should probably get your machine serviced.

Error e4 on sewing machine toyota 5090 flashes e4 and is a piece of ****,

Unable to locate a manual for your machine. You might try contacting a Toyota dealer or Toyota support. You may try totally rethreading from the beginning again. Make sure everything is correctly set before beginning to sew, ie presser foot lowered, stitch length & stitch width are set, the bobbin winder is deactivated, feed dogs are in raised position...

I have a singer 543 the feed dogs won't move.

I suggest getting out your manual and looking up lower and raising the feed dogs. When the feed dogs are lowered they don't move. You could have lowered them without realising it.

How do i put the feed dogs down on my machine?

A cover for feed dogs is available with sewing machine/ parts dealers.
It is is a simple stainless steel plate that sits above feed dogs but not quite touching them.

During use the feed dogs still move but yr cloth is resting on the cover only.
