Question about ATI RADEON 9550 Graphic Card
This may sound like a stupid question, but I don't know the answer so I have to ask. My PC suffered a Windows crash last weekend, and I had to re-install Windows XP Pro to get it back. Dell tech support walked me through that, but when we went to re-install the drivers I didn't have the disk for my after market ATI Radeon PowerColor 9550 GameFX AGP 8X graphics card. Dell simply used the video drivers that support the mainboard graphics that came with the machine.
So, at the moment I'm not taking advantage of my nice graphics card. Here is my question. I did finally locate the CD for my card, but I cannot find the documentation that was in the box when I bought the card. The card of course is in my machine's AGP slot. Since I don't have the little installation manual that came with the card, can you tell me if there is any trick to re-installing these drivers? I'm assuming I could just load the CD and follow the prompts and all would be fine. Windows would then recognize my AGP card and default to it. Is that correct? Yes, I did this once when I bought the card, but it was long ago and I don't remember the correct procedure. After last weekend, I guess I'm a little gun shy. I don't want to do anything that might create more problems. I've had enough PC disasters to last me for awhile. Please advise and thanks in advance! :-)
You will be fine if you simply insert the disk and follow the instructions. If you're still uncomfortable you may be able to find step-by-step instructions if you go to the ATI website and look around in their support section.
