Im not sure why this problem is occurring but if i was you i would just leave the printer and router on at all times so that there is no confusion. Or possibly change it from a static ip to a dynamic one and see how that goes.

I can't install a Netgear wgr614vp router - stops in the middle and says, "we have detected a static IP address" - won't let me go any farther

The fact remains, unless Comcast (your ISP) has given you a "static" IP odds are that your IP is in fact NOT static, but dynamic (where your ISP can change your IP at the drop of a hat. I am wondering what the router is detecting to tell it that your IP is in fact static? Comcast OUGHT TO be able to tell you, without getting one of "their" routers, if your IP is static or dynamic. Comcast has this answer, and no onev else, so keep after them.
At any rate, you ought to be able to get to your router control by pointing your browser at http://192.168.1.1 and log in with the following:
User Name: admin
Password: {leave this blank}
Once you've logged in let me know and we'll take small steps to get you online, OK?

Trying to connect netgear wgr614v9 router to new toshiba computer with windows 7 ....setup says unsupported operating system....what do I do

As netgear setup disc doesnot support Win 7.
U need to manually setup the netgear product

-- hard resett the router using a restore factory setting hole on the back of the router
-- open the netgear router page using www.routerlogin.com
-- Username - admin , Password - password
-- run setup wizard
-- if it detects dynamic ip then press next
-- and on the left u will see wireless settings under setup .
-- secure the network using WPA_PSK(TKIP)
-- and then apply .

In case if it will detect static or fixed ip .
Then click on " Basic settings "
-- Under router MAC address
-- select "use computers MAC adress "
-- Apply
-- And then Powercycle the network..
-- And u will be able to go online ..

Hi, i have wnr2000 and am trying to set it up. i'm at the setup wizard which says that i already have a valid internet connection. what does this mean and what do i do next?

Basically you need to sign up with an Internet Service Provider in your area. The ISP will advise you the type in modem/Internet connection you need for their service (ie. DSL or cable) and advise you or provide you with a compatible DSL or cable modem. The ISP will provide an installation disc or instructions to configure the modem so it connects with their Internet server.
The modem is then connected to the wnr2000 router's Internet/WAN port with a LAN cable.
If you have already configured the modem and connected it to the wrn2000 router and the setup wizard has detected that you already have a valid Internet connection (it has detected your TCP/IP address which your Internet Service Provider has given you - this IP address is your unique network address - it is similar to your house address in your street, in your suburb, in your state, and in your country). Just click OK and continue with the setup.

Cannot conect my Router

1.Did you set an IP address to the new router? If no.
set it to 192.168.1.2 or in DHCP mode.

2. Install the new AP software(i.e uninstall the older version from your PC/laptop) which would be available in CD for the new router package.
This will solve the problem.
