There is no clear film. I touch it and black ink comes off on my finger. Could it be something blocking it within the printer? There is no clear film. I touch it and black ink comes off on my finger. Could it be something blocking it within the printer?
Same problem, worked fine for a year, now black will not not print, not even the test grid. Genuine Canon black ink flows through the head well onto the paper towel. Also will not allow print head alignment so probably related to the same problem? Almost seems to be electrical but contacts are spotless. I'm not formiliar with that printer, but you can usually see the cartridge moving inside. Also, check to make sure that the electrical contacts are clean and making a proper connection.I'm not formiliar with that printer, but you can usually see the cartridge moving inside. Make sure you've removed the shipping tape from the cartridge's print head. More than likely the black cartridge is not disbursing ink - clean the print head carefully with "Q" tip and alcohol and see if black ink comes out slightly. Re-insert cartridge and try again. Perform "clean cartridge" in printer properties window.
It's like the ink is not flowing at the nuzzle! To check this you take some tissue paper, fold it so that is is a little padded. Press the black ink cartridge nuzzle (this is the bottom part where the ink comes from) on it. If black in is flowing well, the tissue ahould come out blotted with black ink. If it does not, it means either the ink is blocked or the is finished. Try this with every black ink cartridge you want to test.
If see the blot of black and the problem persists, clean the "electronic" contact side of the cartridge with tissue soaked in a bit of methylated spirit. Do the same to the area it makes contact with inside the printer.
This has been just happening with me aswell - I just changed the colour cartridge with the black cartridge ran out but i kept it in as it told me to place one in. Trying to print out but black ink wont come - just blank pages - surely the colour cartridge can make black? However, if you have the colour cartridge and are on microsoft word or similar, change the colour of the writing to dark navy and it will print out documents.
First... check to make sure you removed the yellow tab from the new print cartridge
put the ink cartridge back into the printer
click Start
click Control Panel
open Printers and Faxes
click (or double click to open) your printer icon
click on Printer menu
click on cancel all documents
Then try printing again.
If this does not work, look in the manual that came with the printer and check out the troubleshooting section.
