Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

When the battery dies, usually the camera will retract the lens if possible. If the battery is so dead the lens can not retract, I would recommend trying to charge or change the battery. Or try to turn the camera on, and then manually shutting it off if you can.

Rebuilding the catalog might solve your issues.
If your on Windows XP
Shut down Kodak Easyshare SW, also shut it down from the system tray near the clock.
Go to C: then Program, Kodak, Kodak Easyshare Software, the Bin Folder, rename the catalog folder and change it to OldCatalog.
Then on same window click on search on the top of your screen and type on the search box ESBK, once you found it, delete the two icons that says ESBK.mb and ESBK.mbb.

Then relaunch the easyshare software then try to transfer again those pictures.

Hope this would help.

Unfortunately. you don't. The Z612 works with SD cards, not SDHC cards. You're limited to cards 2GB and smaller.

I have a kodak easy share camera M340 and I can't take any photos since it says Internal memory is full. Help

Buy yourself an SD memory card and transfer your pics to the card. That will clear your internal memory. You can save all your pics that you take from now on in the SD card.

Horizontal lines running through pictures.....Z612.

I've had sinilar problems with mine. I bought it in November of 2006 and sent it back to Kodak (under warranty) 3x before they finally agreed to replace it (with a refurbed unit). Well, that was in June of 2007 and the problem is now baaaack with the reoplacement camera (same model)... I'm requesting Kodak replace it with another model, but I'm "out of warranty" and they want me to pay them $145 to repair (which they've never been able to fix for me). So I am requesting them to replace with a different model.

Kodak EasyShare Z612 Digital Camera Error #803

This problem is frequently due to corroded battery terminals inside the camera. Remove the batteries and wipe the terminals with a soft cloth (heavy corrosion may require a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue left in the camera by the cleaning. Clean the terminals on the batteries in the same manner, and then replace them in the camera. This cures most problems, but if it doesn't work for you, check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/repair/troubleshooting/troubleshooting.jhtml?pq-path=6198

It uses a simple Q&A format to diagnose problems and propose solutions.
