David, I would put my money on a new power supply board. , be sure u get the #'s off the board itself. there are many such boards and they look alike but they might not work. Just be careful they still carry a Charge and will Zap u .. even thought the Caps don't look blown it could be just one of the legs on the square Cap. just replace the whole board..
Hi bsut96,
Check the cable between the monitor and the box for damage.
Try a new cable.
It may be a problem with the input board but it sounds like a cable problem.
Let me know what you find and please rate this solution. Lone99star
I had the exact same problem. Another thread on this site recommended replacing the inverter from www.lcdpart.com
I ordered the replacement inverter from their San Francisco office this past Friday. I received in less than 72 hours later and I live in Tampa. AND THIS IS THE HOLIDAYS.
Anyway, they have a tutorial installation instruction on their website for the Dell W1700. I have never worked on a tv, but with their tutorial it took me about an 1.5 hours to disconnect, disassemble, repair, and test the tv. Everything now works again... and for only $90 including shipping.

You can access the main menu by pushing the MENU button. From there you should have access to brightness and contrast controls, color settings, and image settings, among others. You should be able to adjust the settings so that white looks white, and black looks black. If you can't get it where it needs to be from these controls, it may indicate a problem. Call support if that is the case.
