IPod Classic - video skips

I just bought an iPod Classic 80 and when I'm watching a movie it suddenly stops and skips back to the menu. Any idea how I can fix this?

I have the same prob! I downloaded an rmvb file and converted it to an mp4 file like i used to do with my 5gen Ipod video and with the classic it always skips and goes back to the menu. It's so annoying and I just might exchange it for the 5gen ipod. I called apple about this and the rep said that he cannot help me with that since the download is not from Itunes.. (of course, he must be trained to say that!) I tested the ipod with a converted dvd file and it didn't skip at all, I also tested it again with another converted (downloaded) file and it skipped. So I really don't know what to do now... the only reason why i bought the 6gen was because it is a slimmer 80gb than the last one i had....

I plug in my 80gb ipod and a thing pops up and says itunes has detected an ipod that appears to be corrupted. You may need to restore this ipod before it can be used with itunes. you may also try to disconnecting and reconecting the ipod. and so i restore it and it still comes back up

My ipod won't let me watch movies or open my applications

Try to restore your iPod with connecting it to your pc or mac and open iTunes. When you are in iTunes you could try to restore the iPod in the menu of iTunes where it sees your connected iPod.
You've to be sure to backup all the important data to your pc or mac.

With kind regards,

Dont know how to download movies to a classic

okay.. do you mean sync movies to the iPod classic? if thats what you mean, then boot up iTunes, and plug in your iPod.

then click on your iPods name, and it will bring up a menu.

click on the movies tab, and make sure the sync movies box is checked... then select the all movies option.

now click apply. it should now be syncing the movies you downloaded to your iPod

So when you're watching a movie it suddenly stops and skips back to the menu? If so, try deleting the movie from the iPod and re-copying it over. If this doesn't work, try restoring your iPod (note: this will delete all music\videos you currently have on the iPod).
