If your house is not getting cold enough when your A/C is turned on because it is blowing hot air, It is time for a good cleaning and a Freon recharge. There are a variety of factors that may cause your A/C to not cool your house. With that said, here is a diagnostic article that provides the most probable causes of your A/C's failure to cool your house, and from there you can read it and then, step by step, rule out each possible cause listed in the article:

http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Home_Improvement_Zone_Cooling_Ventilation_Systems_Central_Air_Conditioning_Does_Not_Cool.htm

Of course, though a low level of Freon/refrigerant may most likely be the problem, there may be other contributing causes as well, as noted in the article---it may just be that debris is obstructing your AC as well. Read the article, and, actually, your best bet may be to take advantage--towards the END of the above-linked article--of the text-link for Free four (4) quotes from local AC contractors in your area, and "pick the brain"--seek the advice--of these local technicians who offer you a free quote to discern what could be the problem.

Cool air coming from the vents in the front but hot air coming from the back. What do I do to stop the hot air so that the room will cool down?

Hi,
The hot air is a product of the cooling.... if you stop that then the unit will not cool!!!
You need to buy an exhaust kit to vent the hot air outside so that it will cool the room.
Otherwise it is just what is called a spot cooler or in other words you are cool if you sit in front of it, but it actually will make the overall room temp. hotter!!

The air comes on and blows, but the fan outside doesn't spin....tho the air feels a bit cool, the apt never cools off

hello, if the compressor is running and yet the condenser fan motor is not most likely you have a bad capacitor to the fan or if it's a dual capcitor the fan side is bad. Another possibility is the motor itself could be shot but you would need a meter to check. with the power turned off and take you meter and put one meter lead to the ( common) wire and take the other meter lead to each additional wire coming from the motor one at a time, if you dont have resistance between any of the wires then the motor has a open winding and should be replaced.

Dryer air will not get hot...symbol for drying and cooling on at

The heating element have got old and brittle over time and finally gave up the ghost. But it is not always the element. It could be one of the safety Hi-limits have blown. All parts of the dryer will have continuity if its working properly. Test for continuity by using a meter set on Ohms,or use a poor man's meter. You can make your own poor man's meter by using an ordinary flashlight . Break the circuit in the flashlight and add a couple of wires to it so that you can make the light come on in the flashlight, that's right hot wire that flashlight. When the bulb lights up you have a circuit! You now have a poor man's meter. The next step is to check each little gizmo on the dryer that the wires attach to. All the limits attached to the side of the heat element, the door switch (when door is closed) etc.should have continuity (closed circuit)(the light should come on in the poor man's meter) If you come across an thing near the blower housing with 2 wires attached to it, that is a thermal limit, a safety or a control thermostat (So as not to get a false circuit you need to remove one of the wires to each thing you check) Look for lint buildup or blocked vent going out the house. If everything is good and you have paid the electric bill, then the timer could be bad.

CAR DIES AFTER ONLY A LITTLE WHILE OF DRIVING. CAR WILL RESTART AFTER AWHILE. MECHANIC SAID CODE SHOWED CLEAN AIR SENSOR.

hello

sounds like when you drive for a while the car gets to op. temp then shuts down? sounds like the crank position sensor. the sensor will get hot and break connection in side of the sensor when it cools the connection is made then the car will start. If your an do it yourself guy you can check the connection your self you need to remove the sensor. And using a volt/ohm meter set on ohms connect the leads to the sensor wires you should have a reading then heat the sensor with a heat gun hair drier may not get hot enough watching the the ohm meter when the meter goes to zero or open the sensor will not start the car let cool with meter still connected watch if reading comes back if so you need to replace the sensor hope this helps
