Has ch 01 light on - LG LHD45EL Dehumidifier

An easy repair for someone who knows how to use a soldering iron and a wire clipper. I just fixed mine. First, buy the sensor assembly LG Electronics 6877A30013V. It's on ebay, amazon, and lots of other places. Cost: about $13 plus shipping. Next, pull out the water tray. next, remove the two screws at the bottom of the front cover. snap out the cover. note the air filter (and clean it!). with the cover removed and hanging by the panel control harness, look to the extreme upper left for the copper slug held in place to a metal evaporator tube with a clip. remove the clip from the tube, and then remove the clip from the copper colored slug. this is the defective part. pull away some of the plastic tubular cover, and cut the wires. split the two wires apart at the end, and remove a little of the insulation from the wires. cut the wires on the new slug from the sensor assembly. LEAVE 1.5 INCHES OF WIRE ON THE NEW SLUG. strip a little insulation from the end of each wire. connect the wires on the new part to the wires hanging from the old part, which you have just snipped. polarity doesn't matter. solder the connections. wrap the bare wire soldered connections with a little electrical tape. clip the new sensor slug to the clip, then to the metal tube as before. put the cover back on and slide the (hopefuly cleaned) air filter back on. put the water tray back. plug it in. fan should go on and stay on. set humidity level. wait a few minutes until you hear the compressor start. that's it - you are done. don't bother attempting to replace the entire harness, which connects to a pc board in an aluminum box in the back of the unit. I tried that - it's impossible!

I'm having the same problem. I spoke with LG today and this error code means the unit is not calculating the correct humidity percentage. I told him that I don't really care what percentage it calcs, I just want it to collect water. He told me there was no way to override this and that it will need service to operate.

Less than two years into owning my LG Dehumidifier I'm having the same problem. Furthermore, when I go to the LG website and enter my postal code to find a local repair/service provider the site doesn't work. I'm not very happy with LG.

the defective part is a copper slug that attaches to a metal evaporator tube. The part costs $13. It takes about 30 minutes to replace. see my comment above.

I can confirm jkadubec's expeience. I called LG and they said that the unit needed to be serviced. She couldn'[t tell me what the code meant.

I also went to LG's website where they have a search facility where you can look up error codes and found no information. Every time I entered the "CH 01" it would tell me it could find nothing. The site is pathetic. I kept getting,

"Stack overflow error on line 0"

The closest support facility is about an hour away. I will not be taking it there as it is not worth the hassle. I will never buy a LG dehumidifier again as this one is only one year old.

I am reposting this from another thread. I couldn't find this initial post until I went to my profile. I am simply updating my experience in getting the unit serviced.

    ----------------------------------------------

All, I had this same problem as well. I called the LG Support Line and
they told me the unit needed to be serviced. I went through the motions
of getting the service providers and what have you, but I wasn't going
to go through with it because the closes service provider was a 45
minute drive. I posted how disappointed I was because I had only had
the unit for a year, but could not find my earlier post.

    Anyay,
I am glad I went through the motions, because a few days later LG
called and told me they would be shipping me a refurbished replacement.
Wow. That was a treat. They shipped me a refurbished unit and had me
send the old one back. I did not have to pay a dime. The sent me the
Fedex shipping label via email and I called Fedex and they came by and
    picked it up.

I cannot remember if I had registered the unit
when I initially purchased it. Sometimes I won't do that because it
seems only to serve as a license to sell me stuff. They took down all
my contact information and sent me the unit so I don't know. I would
simply encourage everyone with the CH 01 error code to give LG a call
via the support number from their website at lgappliances.com. Good
    luck!

CH 01 Indicates that water collection tank is full and needs to be removed & emptied. Turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the bucket.

The dehudifier won't come on in and in the digital display the message CH 01 comes up. Any idea what the problem is?

CH 01 usually indicates that the filter is dirty and needs to be removed and cleaned. Turn the unit OFF and unplug it, before removing the filter. Never operate the unit without the filter in place.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Hi, When I tried to start my dehumidifier, it won't work and indicate CH 01. The bucket is totally empty and in good place. What this CH 01 means?

Your model is no longer in manufacture or available. However, I was able to locate the Owners Manual for you. It does not list a CH 01 Error Code, but does list other reasons why your unit want turn ON.

http://www.lg.com/us/support/product/support-product-profile.jsp?customerModelCode=LHD45EL&matchedModelCode=1000001989&searchEngineModelCode=LHD45EL&targetPage=support-product-profile&initialTab=documents#

In the past, I have recommended turning the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF and unplugging the unit for 12-15 minutes. This will give the unit time to hopefully, reset itself. Then Plug the unit back in and turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. Set the humidity control as you normally would. If it successfully reset itself, it should operate normally.

If you continue to have problems, contact LG Customer Support at 800-243-0000.

Hope this helped you to solve the problem.

What is a code CH 01

Had same erroe code in 2008. CH 01. Bucket Full light was flashing, but it was empty. Would not start. Called customer service and was advised it was most likely a compresser problem. In that compressoe was still in warranty took it to a lacal service center. Compressor was Ok, but had to replace Evap Thermister Board and Sensor. $120.00 in parts and $50.00 labor.
I am not an expert.
Good luck.

Code (CH) (01) on front panel, what does it mean?

I believe it is a water tank code. Re-seat the tank, unplug wait 15 seconds and replug the power cord and see if this resolves the error.

Background relating to other possibilities.
When the water bucket reaches its capacity, the bucket switch opens to shut off the dehumidifier. If the bucket switch fails while it is open, it will prevent the dehumidifier from running. To determine if the bucket switch is defective, use a multimeter to test it for continuity. If the bucket switch does not have continuity, replace it.

Error Code CH 01

I have a Comfortaire BHD501 dehumidifier. A couple weeks ago I noticed ice building up on top of the unit,so I unplugged it to defrost. I plugged it back in and it worked until I noticed the "CH" "01" code. It would run a few seconds then shut off with that code showing. I took off the front of the unit and noticed rust on some of the metal parts. Then I took the cover off the circuit board for the front read out. I noticed corrosion on some of the solder points. When I looked closer at the plastic cover for the circuit board I noticed a small burn mark. The water from the melting ice must have run behind the cover and shorted out the circuitboard. At this point I don't know if new boards are available.

LHD45EL Dehumidifier won't run

This will need to be serviced. LG has a 5 year warranty on these models. They usually will tell you of a service center nearby which will service it free of charge since it is under warranty. If you do not live near a service center they may ship you a replacement and you send your old dehumidifier back to them. Make sure you have your reciept when you contact them so they can verify it is 1 year old.
