The control panel shows the words "clear jam then press ok" then "print cartridge cradle is stuck" with blinking yellow light on print button

My problem is simular to others here regarding stuck cradle. Mine is stuck at left side with same error telling me to clear jam and press ok. Due to left side position I can't get in to remove cartridges or see what's holding the cradle to the left. This problem started out intermittantly and is now a solid failure.

my print cartridge is stuck on the left side and the error message print cartridge stuck is displayed when I looked inside the printer I noticed that the middle print cradles blue thing to secure the print cartridge had come open and it is stuck in the up position. I am not sure if I should take the cover off the printer or not.

I have the same problem as others with my PhotoSmart 7550. The print cartridge is jammed on the left hand side. I can see the proposed solution but I can't figure out how I would take off the top cover. I'm not seeing any way to pull it off. Anybody know how to get it off?

    Thanks!

My printer cartridge seems to be stuck because the door holding the cartridge is popped open and I can't reach it since it is far to the laft position. How do I open the entire unit from the top to close the door or remove the cartridges?

I have had this problem with my 7550 for a while now and I finally found this on the HP website and it seems to have fixed my problem, I also replaced all of the cartridges:

Issue While printing from an HP Photosmart printer, the printer screen displays Print cartridge cradle is stuck / clear jam and then press OK . The printer may also make grinding sounds. This can occur after a paper jam when another printer part blocks the cradle. Solution Follow these instructions to adjust the clutch on the printer.

  1. Disconnect the USB cable.
  2. Press the printer power button to turn off the printer.
  3. Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  4. Open the top cover of the printer.
  5. Remove the print cartridges from the printer.
  6. Slide the cradle to the right side of the printer.
  7. Locate the clutch on the left side of the printer.
NOTE: The clutch is a flat, white, plastic component that rests just above the white roller gear wheel. In the HP Photosmart P1000 and P1100 printers, the clutch is black metal. Figure 1: Printer clutch cartridge cradle is stuck - c00020494.jpg
  8. Remove the rear access door from the back of the printer.
  9. Press the clutch firmly towards the back of the printer, while rolling the wheels in the back of the printer upward two full rotations.
  10. Release the clutch and roll the wheels up two more rotations.
  11. Reinstall the rear access door.
  12. Reinstall the print cartridges and secure the latches in place.
  13. Close the top cover and reconnect the power cord.
  14. Turn on the printer.
  15. Print a test page.

There are some great solutions I have read here. Recently I started receiving the 'stuck cradle' error message on my HP 7550 and was about to give up and trash it. I decided to take the entire top cover off and found that the 58 cartridge door was open. This prevented the carriage from sliding to the right and also caused the error message. I then reassembled the printer and it is working as before. If you decide to remove the top casing be sure to remove the control panel first. There is a pin and two ribbon connectors to disconnect. Something I didn't do first. Good luck.

Try this: Remove both ink cartridges. Unplug the printer for a few minutes. Plug it back in and re-install the cartridges.

My printer keeps saying print cartridge cradle is stuck clear jam then press ok, but there is no paper jam

Because it's NOT a paper jam, but a cartridge cradle jam, I suppose it's an ink jet printer??? if so, check for debrie arround the cradle shaft that could prevent the printing cradle to move from left to wright... you could also lubricate the shaft by rubbing a little bit of grease on it with the tip of your finger (verry thin layer), as ink sometimes gets on it and tends to become sticky with time...

Print Cartridge stuck

Look at the pad on the right side of the printer under where the ink cartridges are loaded. It may have ink deposits built up into lumps which interfere with the movement of the cartidges on the rod. Clean the deposits by scraping the lumps and removing all debris. This worked for me.

Print cartridge cradle is stuck ican't find where it is jammed

This might help . . . Mine finished printing one doc & then made a terrible noise & sent a message to my screen that "print cartridge cradle is stuck." When i opened door, i could see it was stuck off to the left side so left cartridge was obscured. I could not get it to budge, although i kept turning it off, gently pushing & turning it back on. Finally, i got my hand inside & determined that the little door to the left-side cartridge had popped open & was causing it to remain stuck. After some struggles (turn off printer first!) i was able to maneuver it around & close it tight. Now, all is well . . .

There seems to be a problem with the cradle not "lifting" itself up and over what appears to be some sort of guide. Rock the cradle gently back by hand (it will only move a few millimeters) and move it all the way to the right into its bay. Cycle the printer power and it should be fine.

HP 7660 "Print Cartridge Cradle is Stuck" Message

I was having same problem but it was a paper jam all the time and then it started to state Cairrage Jam. And what was happening was the unit the cartridges sit in was not going all the way to the right. A little nudge and you could feel it move. Closed lid and sometimes it would print but eventually it would fail. Just replaced but I suspect if you can get to the cairrage you could clean/repair whatever was keeping it from going all the way to the right.

Hope that helps!
