Hp photosmart 3210 all in one printer
I, too, used the same solution of holding down "OK" "CXL" and "BLACK COLOR" at the same time. Printer will restart itself and everything is a-ok!
I same problem and may 2009 fix did not work for me. Ink system has failed. Unable to copy receive faxes, or pirnt. Refer to printer documention. Error: 0xc18a0106
SOURCE: Ink System Failure (Error 0xc05d1381)
Don't waste your time on the copy and paste HP solution above.
If you really want to fix your printer:
Okay, HERE IS THE ACTUAL FIX FOR THIS ERROR.
1. Disconnect your USB cable.
2. Turn off the printer.
3. Press and hold down these four buttons at the same time:
OK, Cancel, Black, Color.
4. While still holding them down hit the power button once.
5. It will Blink.
5. Hit the power button again.
6. Continue holding until you get a message on the screen.
7. Allow the printer to sequence through and there you go.
Enjoy.

ink system failure Err OXC18a0106 started when changing the ink
ink system failure
Received "ink system failure" message along with code 0xc18a0307. Followed HP advice to turn off, remove power cable, then cartridges, wait 2 mins, plug back in and when prompted add cartridges except, I received the message again when turning the printer on. Adding the cartridges did nothing to help. HP suggested a service however, I'd rather explore all avenues before resorting to service.
I have same error code message 0xc18a0307 after repalcing ink cartridges on my HP photosmart 3300. bummer!
I've tried everything and it still doesn't work. It worked fine just minutes before installing a new ink cartridge.
This worked for me!!! Took me forever to find a post about it - but try it. Basically it is a reset of the printer. Hold down OK, Cancel, Black and Color buttons while turning it off, I turned it back on, it turned itself off and I turned it back on again, it started off doing the calibration and it took about 5 minutes, but when it was finished I had a working printer again. YEAH!!! I am not sure why it was so hard to find this solution. It should be on HP's troubleshooting site. Shame on them - I don't think I'd buy another HP printer...
I had ink failure systen problem, searched for help. I found your website and followed the advice of " press ok,cancel, black and color button and turn off at the same time" then turn back on and let it go thru the motions and it works, it really works. I was told by HP chat person that it could not be fixed and to buy another printer, it makes you wonder what HP chat line people really know. Thanks for helping fix my printer and it saving me money.
I have the HP3210 and the extended warranty ran out Dec 30,2008. On
Jan 2 the full pink ink cart (which was working fine) says it's empty. It had been working but recently replaced. I tried it in my daughters pinter and it reads full. Mine says it's empty and won't function. I tried 7 different suggestions including replacing cartridge three times, removing and all and putting them back, uninstall and reinstall ,,,, to no avail. Then I found the suggestion "hold down, all at one, OK,CANCEL, BLACK,COLOR and turn off the printer and then turn it back on" After several minutes of maintenance it ran on itself, it worked!!!! thank you for posting this information
Fantastic.
After struggeling with the printer for a whole day. Talking with incompetent HP support personell, and finding the invoice to claim repair, IT WORKS:
Thanks a lot for the tips. ! HOLD DOWN OK. CANCEL, COLOUR and B&W. Then the printer fixes itself.
I go to setup menu and press tools then align printer.... Alignment failed comes up, any suggestions please!! Thanks...
I've just taken the printer out of storage and I'm having the same message come up about *Ink System Failure.
Now I've got a stupid question. Where are the Black and Color buttons on the printer?
HP 3300 All In One printer. Ink system failure. Code: 0xc18a0501
Tried what worked for someone else: Pressed OK, Cancel, Black and Color all at the same time and turned it off. Waited a few minutes and restarted. A screen came up saying, Reset.
It works! It just printed and looks great!
