Screen blanks sporadically

Good has become sporadic with the display. Relaced circuit board and backlight, to no effect. Is this a motherboard issue or do you know?

  • Rodd Nov 30, 2007

Your information is both accurate and unwelcome. I just replaced the screen and the problem persists, which means I was sold a bad screen by an unscrupulous jerk. I already know the bit about plugging in to an external monitor, that is how I determined the initial screen replacement. I was hoping against hope that there was some other detail I had overlooked . . . but I already did the circuit board(not the motherboard). ok?

This could be a video issue or a screen issue. To determine which one try to plug it up to an external monitor. If it does not black out on the monitor then it is the screen. If it blacks out on the monitor then it is the video component of the motherboard. In that case you would most like replace the motherboard.

Hope this helps!

Main video board the culprit?

One possibility for the sporadic signal loss you're experiencing is the video board. However, this issue could also be caused by a loose cable connection, a tuner issue with the television, or software issues.
The intermittent signal loss could have been caused by a loose cable or a damaged connection after the backlights were replaced.
I would advise checking each and every cable connection to ensure that they are securely fastened in place and that no damage has occurred prior to replacing the video board. You could also try performing a software reset on the television to see if that helps. The video board may need to be replaced if these steps do not resolve the issue.
It's best to talk to an experienced TV repairman about the problem and the best course of action. They will have the experience and tools necessary to correctly identify the issue and suggest the most cost-effective solution.

Viking fridge top and bottom model#vcbb536rss is beeping sporadically, the display screen is flashing, what is wrong with that? what part we need to check?

high low voltage board were likely not needed
board registers high temp and after a few days of constant high temp alarm will restart
by replacing low volt board all you did is start with empty register also when replacing low volt board they have to be programed for your model
sounds like you need service for your cooling issue

I took my HP Pavilion dv7-1132nr on vacation with me and the monitor sporadically goes black. I thought it was in hibernation but I cannot get it to go on. I do a hard stop and after about six or seven...

This is most likely either an issue with the display itself or the cable that is inside the laptop chassis that connects the motherboard to the display. The cable can get pinched and unplugged by the screen being opened and closed (if it wasn't assembled properly). This can be about a $200 fix. If it is the display itself cutting out completely, it is typically over $350 to repair through HP. If there is a dark, washed out image that is barely visible, it means the backlight is going out and that is at least a $300 repair.

Screen is blank when powered up and i cant see anything on the screen

Hello.

Connect an external monitor / display to your laptop to see if your laptop's display is faulty.

If faulty, it is the display's backlight or inverter board.

If you were experiencing discoloration in the screen (pinkish lower light hues) before it failed, that would indicate a CCFL backlight issue. If the screen suddenly went dim rather than a slow degradation, the inverter would be indicated.

In either case, a technician in your area should be able to help. Evaluate to see if the repair is cost-effective.

Hope this helps.

Screen flickers for about 20-30 seconds sporadically

Try looking at the LCD screen at a sharp angle to see if ghost-like video can be seen during the 'off' time of the flicker.  If video is still present even though not that visible, then either the backlight or its power supply are failing. The color problem could also be caused by a backlight lamp that is not ionizing completely.

IBM 770 screen blacks out sporadically

If you have an external monitor, try plugging up to that to see if it is an LCD screen issue or if it is a video card issue. If the monitor does not show the same symptons then it is the LCD screen. If it does then it is the video card. Usually the motherboard will need to be replaced if it is the video. If the screen, then it will need to be replaced.

Hope this helps!!
